Hi there, I'm hoping someone could help me out. I'm still practicing at the moment, and not planning on taking any paying clients until I'm 100% confident with my polishing.
When polishing I'm finding that the polish is peeling, sometimes within hours of application. I'm using the new CND colours and effects so I know it's not the polish, it's something to do with my application. I'm using stickey and super shiney, and using scrubfresh prior to application.
I would really appreciate any ideas of where I'm going wrong, wht could be causing this....and any tips which may resolve this for me.

Thanks Geeks, Lou xxx

Hi hun,

I know that if you place the polish on too thick it can cause peeling, so it might be worth trying to do 2 coats a bit thinner to see if that helps.

xx

Hi

Are you waiting long enough in between applications? eg waiting until colour is dry before applying effect? or maybe applying top coat too thick? or again maybe layers of colour are too thick?

try thin even coats and maybe use a nail dryer in between layers. Just a thought xxx

Are you capping the free edge with all coats that you're applying, base, colour and top coats?

Thank you for all your replies.....I'll take all this onboard.......

I did a french polish on myself on Friday and did rush it, and probably applied too thickly (they were rubbish!!) It peeled on one nail from the sidewall.

I did them again more carefully on Saturday and my thumb started to peel from the free edge, but I noticed and smoothed it back and it's stayed??? I think maybe I didn't cap the edge on that one.....the others are fine.

It's practice, practice, practice........I have friends who are happy for me to practice on them, but I worry that if it's not good enough they then won't become clients when I eventually go 'live'!!

Thanks again ladies, Lou xxx

If polish is applied correctly, then you don't have to wait between applications of different coats.

You certainly do not have to wait for Colour to dry before adding the Effect.

You don't say if you have applied colour to the natural or enhanced nail?
In either case, the surface that you base coat, must be free of all oils and dry. Apply CND Stickey Base coat.

When using Colour with CND you almost never need to apply 2 coats and only one coat of the Effect. Finish off with CND Air Dry top coat or Super Shiney top coat for lasting wear.

If you do want to use only colour, and to apply 2 coats of it, then apply two thin coats. Finish off with CND Air Dry top coat or Super Shiney top coat for lasting wear.
