hi i have us taken my waxing course and was taught using the pot/spatula method but due to going mobile and the health and hygeine restrictions i am considering going for the roller wax method i know this is a lil more expensive buti just feel it will be easier and less mess:confused:. when i mentioned roller wax to a friend she said that when she had it done the wax felt tacky and she didn't like it which downed my hopes:cry: can any 1 advise me please thanx karen xx

hey, i use roller wax and i love it, its far easier for me to use whilst being mobile as i havent got to worry about spillages..
HTH

It can be tacky if its not hot enough but i love my roller.I still use pot and spatula though and hot wax.

i have both in the salon. The Hive roller wax and the pot. I am new to waxing but the beautician used to use phd. I bought the Hive and the odd thing is the large roller for the leg is great, but the middle and small one can be sticky. So I dont understand how the wax is not hot enough when I put all 3 sizes on and tried one after the other. Also I am a bit disapointed that they seem to leak down the cartridge from the roller. I have made sure they are tight but it still leaks. As I say just a bit disapointed with it. Also the head for them are way too expensive to be thrown away like the phd system. I even phoned up Hive and said this to them. They told me the heads can be cleaned by using the wax equipment cleaner. I was happy with this as I do think that we are a bit of a throw away society and health and safety gone nuts. As someone on here pointed out that the heat from the wax pot would not allow germs to breed! It would be good to know from a micro biologist the answer to all these questions. Any micro biologists reading these forums?

Personally, I am and always have been a fan of pot and spatula. I have tried roller systems but always go back to pot & spatula as I feel more comfortable with it.

Everyone has their own opinion on what is best, so its hard to say what will be best for you.
I personally use the PHD system for large areas and pot wax for small areas. But I don't do that much waxing so if I only have one client in having an eyebrow wax then I'll use the PHD as it heats up very quickly, I just squeeze the wax onto the spatula and apply to eyebrows ( I don't like the small applicators). I'm doing a pamper evening next week and doing eyebrow waxing using this method.
Good luck with choosing!
