hi i use young nails l&p a clients wants her nails doing but shes 9weeks pregnant should i do her nails or not pls help as not sure ???

Sure, but make her aware that due to her changing body chemistry they may lift or not stay on at all! She just can't have really hot foot spas or paraffin treatments or foot leg massages being pregnant--but anything else goes!

Hi Sian totally agree with C-C My Nails i'd definately cover your back and mention possible lifting .Do you use Young Nails protiene bond the girls on here put me on to it,I use YN too, have done a client who had just had a baby ,same problems with hormones, and got no lifting at all. So yes do her nails x

Pregnant clients do not normally have a problem with lifting if we have done our job correctly. This hormone thing is a bit of a Myth in my opinion ... I've never had a problem with pregnant clients' nails lifting. I do use a high end product that covalently bonds to the Keratin in the nail which does make a difference to some low end products.

I think many technicians feel they have to 'cover their back' by saying these silly things because they are not confident with their own work.

I have 2 pregnant clients and they also had no lifting at all...

I have had pregnant clients whose nails behaved as they always did (one managed to fit giving birth between rebalances!) but I had one who couldn't keep a product on her nails when she was pregant.

She's an l+p wearer but that lifted within 2 days, I tried gel with the same result and even polish just peeled back off. Once she'd had her baby we went back to L+P enhancements with no lifting as before....... That was definitely her hormones! Luckily I'd been doing her nails a while before she fell pregnant so she didn't blame me!!

I always bear it in mind now.

There are always the odd exceptions to any rule .. my point is that it is not a given fact that clients will suffer with lifting and in my experience most do not .... it is a myth that pregnancy automatically causes lifting problems.
