Hi geeks. I am trying to increase the eyelash extension business, having recently got them back in my service menue after a break. Im not doing too bad with them, but love doing them so want more:green:. After reading a recent thread about being your own shop window etc, I was wondering how fellow eyelash geeks promote their lash business?
I dont really have anyone near enough to me to get lashes put on and maintained, so wearing lash extensions isnt an option, (i certainly wouldnt attempt to apply them myself, lol). So other than telling existing clients, what other ways are there. With nails, tanning, pedis etc I can just wear them, and they sell themself. Any ideas greatfuly received!

They must be someone else in the Essex area that does lashes and who would be willing to do a lash swap with you, hth

Thanks for reply! My nearest lash person is 1/2 hour away, (without traffic) and she dosent work on a monday, which is my day off! That would have been my ideal solution:) Do you have lashes on Louise? I know this is def the best advert, but I seemed to have lucked out on that one, lol! Any other promotion suggestions?

At the moment i don't have any on but everyone always asks me if i have as i have quite good lashes,
i do wear them though regularly and it does work wonders for tempting the clients,
i have been doing them for years so can do my own but it takes a long time,
its much easier to do my own nails lol

God i reckon i would take my eye out with my beak nose tweezers if i tried, lol!

so it is possible to do your own eventually ?

not being able to do mine is what has put me off training for lashes up until now.
ive seen them done and had them done and i think id get the hang of them because i'm very patient with anything fiddly.

I find doing them on others is lovely, and I find it really relaxing too! I was trained in 2006, and I still dont reckon I would get them on me, lol! I just about manage the cluster lashes on my outer corners for a night out:)

Is it possible ?
if you have the patience of jobe, are as stubborn as a mule, have 4 or 5 hours to spare, 20/20 vision and the best day light lighting you can get your hands on,
yes

i manage to get around 70 lashes on each eye and they do look good,
BUT they are not perfect,
it is impossible to isolate 1 lash of your own without any of the baby lashes sticking too,
so i only wear the set for around 4 to 5 weeks and then take them out before they start to pull out the baby lashes as the longer lashes naturally fall out,

if you are to compare fitting your own lash extensions to fitting your own nail enhancements,
nails are a breeze (and we so know that doing our own nails are not a breeze)
my nails are always done, my lashes are not lol

there you go Susan, my 100% honest answer,
cabinkel is right though, it is a very relaxing treatment to do and very rewarding too when you hand the client the mirror and see their face light up with delight,
hth

hadnt thought about the vision, i wear glasses for detailed work.
couldnt really keep them on whilst doing my own lashes could i ?

Hey cabinkel,

As you can't show the clients the lashes on yourself the only other thing I can think of (other than the word of mouth & advertising) is to take before and after photos of clients, perhaps if money allows then do a couple of friends or family and take some before & after photos, build up a little book or even have the photos up in your beauty room?
Then at least when you tell clients about the extensions, you'll be able to show them how great they are too! & what a difference they make.

You wouldn't be able to wear regular glasses while fitting them to yourself,
what about them glasses that were made to help people when applying make up, the lenses lift up one at a time so you can do your eye make up,
do they still make these ?

Hi,

I am a qualified Lash Technician, and I live in Gillingham, Kent - where abouts are you in Essex, maybe i can help. I have applied a few infills to my own eyes - but it wasn't easy as the fumes from the glue made my eyes run - but i did it. I taped my lower lashes down with micro pore then slowly applied only about 4 to each eye. I find having Va Va Voom eyes does help sell them, and you need a really good magnifying mirror x12 is the best one. Boots sell a x10 which is good if you are far sighted. I do have problems getting clients though - there's little money in this area. Networking is the best though. Cheers Xhristine :)

I dont have that problem hun, my glue has no fumes and sets super quick so makes it loads easier

OMG Louise I wouldn't even attempt to do my own lashes rofl. Like you say doing my own nails are tedious and dont look perfect. I must admit I'm tempted to get a set of the pink or gold Flirties ones just need a good excuse to get them done lol

Thanks though x

you could take the collage idea one step further and have a poster made, if you go to sites like truprint, boots photo, asda photo etc, they have a facility whereby you can upload your pics (in your case it would be before and after pics of eyelash extensions) and then create a lovely poster which you could then put up on display

hope this helps xx
