Hi

I'm thinking of starting up spray parties.

Do you have any requirements of the persons room that you'd be tanning in?

I wouldn't want them to call up the next day saying their white skirtings are covered in spray or theres tan on their cream carpet!!! not that i'd be splashing tan around the place

I know from doing a few practice tans in my spare room which has good ventilation, it still leaves a fine mist on skirtings, mirrors or anything in the room.

I agree, its the fine mist that seems to get everywhere. I would probably take a large sheet with me for the floor and use either a spray tanning tent or a folding screen. In my salon I cover the beauty couch with an old sheet and have a screen to block off half the room. I use a large fan after spraying the client and i think its this that spreads the mist around the room. I would just be very careful - especially if they've got cream furniture.
Good luck

I usually go for the kitchen/bathroom if my tent fits as the floors are generally wipe clean should there be an accident, I always have a towel down outside the tent, I don't use an extractor fan and have never had a problem of the mist settling, the most tans I have done in one go was 6 so maybe this wasn't enough to notice, I spray quite dry so maybe thats why I don't get it. If I can have a window open then thats great. Def best to avoid the cream carpets, lol. Cx

Yep, I'm doing it from home and have to say the mist is getting everywhere. I need to buy the extractor. I find it's sooo messy:mad:. I have a small room I work from, and it drives me nuts. Everything in the room gets dirty because of it. Would any one know if the extractors really work, they are very expensive and I don't want to invest in something which doesn't work.

yeah, i only done a few tans and cleaned down the skirtings after every tan and when i came to move everything out my room i went round the skirtings again with a toothbrush and the tan was running down them.

i think thats why i'm getting worried about tanning in folks houses

i used an old bit of vinyl flooring under the tent just in case

i have a friend who has a downstairs toilet room which is very big with a plug in the middle of the floor (which the floor is also heated) and a shower in it and i've always thought that would be the perfect place to have a party. unfortinately not everyone has a downstairs toilet like that!!!!

I have never spraytanned anyone WITHOUT an extractor! they are well worth the money especially if your going mobile and your customers homes and furniture are at risk from changing colour!!! I would recommend investing in one, you only have to change the filters every 100 tans!

OK STOP!!!!
Hun when I had my training with Tonylee we sprayed in her home with her tent and used both her and my machine, we sprayed 5 people and after we had finished Lee took some couch roll and wiped down the inside of her tent, that was the only place there was any misting and that was caused by me when I had to reach up to one of my models to get the top of his shoulders done, he's 6ft 1 and I'm 5ft. At home I use my wet room, I have white shower curtains in there and there is not a mark on them. I get a bit of misting on the tiles high up at the back, again caused by me being a short a**s and having to reach up. You need to turn your gun down. All that solution on your skirting etc is wasted product that is cutting into your profit. If when you do the couch roll test you have a dry back to the roll then it can't possibly spread around the room because it's not spraying that far.
Hope this helps you hun before you spend out on something you really shouldn't need for the amount of tanning you are doing:hug:

Hi Carron, firstly may I ask whay type of spray machine are you using i.e HVLP or airbrush & Compressor? Because if it is the latter these machines tend to give out more mist particles. If you are using this system then I would rec an extractor.
If it is the HVLP I would be inclined to think that you need to turn your gun right down and be about 6-8 inches away from your client when spraying.
If it was me and I had the airbrush system, I would be inclined to purchase a HVLP machine as it is far cheaper than an extractor and you haven't got to carry a very heavy piece of kit with you.
HTH:hug:

You should also make sure you take out 3rd party liability insurance to cover you for any damage done to someone's home. This is in addition to the professional insurance to cover you for treatment risk.
