Public transport for mobile therapists?

As of yet I have not passed my driving test and by the time I am a qualified beautician I probably still will not have a car ...

Would it be ok to use public transport as a mobile therapist? I know Ill have to cut down on the treatments that I would be available to do as I couldn't carry a couch on the bus/taxi but I could possibly stick to nails and makeup and eye treatments for now until I have a car.

Is there anyone that has to do this because they dont drive?
or should I forget trying to go mobile without a car?

any help would be appreciated

i would wait till you can drive to be honest as its more proffessinal to have your bed with you also even doing eye treatments and so on. some people will also come to your house. and to be honest relying on buses is a nightmare especially in the cold dark wet weather and if you have numerous appoinments would be a nightmare trying to get to them on time. why not book in for an intensive week driving course if you feel confidentbout driving would be worth it in long run.

In my opinion... :idea:

I think you can plan and manage for each appointment like having miniature version of your selected treatment or using small empty container.

If you prepare tiny set for each customer so you don't have to carry too so many unused stuffs.

Perhaps, you might not need your own car, I think...

PS. I always use my (mini suitcase) trolley when I go shopping and it's so practicable and convenience... :cry: but bad for my wallet...

personally i would not even consider it!!! it would be a nightmare.. its bad enough doing it with a car in the winter months!
plus think how much time you'll have to book out to set up, work, clean away and get a bus to the next one, never mind with all your gear!!
could you not set up at home??? xx

Wouldn't even consider it as really the only treatment you can do professionally without a couch is a pedicure.

I would think you'd also need to know the bus/train timetables inside out and there will be quite a lot of walking involved from the stops to clients houses.

I would hang on until you can drive :hug:

Im worried that if I set up at home I wont get the clients in - I don't know anyone in my local area that does this and have no one to compare with

I agree with the other girls about either renting a room or setting up at home. If nobody in your area is set up like that then GREAT, you'll be unique.

I really wouldn't recommend public transport for a mobile therapist. Other than it being a pain with your equipment, public transport is expensive and unreliable. I wouldn't want to be turning up late to my appointments.

i work in a salon part time as i have two kids, but i also do loads of clients from home started off with my friends then there mums and then mums friends and friends of friends lol took a while but i dont advetise for this just started this way and have plenty of clients now. people dont mind coming to your home either especially if it suits them with times and things i can drive and offer to come to their house but always say no it fine will come to you except when i do pamper parties for this you could ask a friend for a lift and give them a wee freebie treatment as a thank you lol. could you not work in the salon to get bit of experience and money for a car and lessons also i love working in a salon and the atmosphere then eventually go mobile.
