Hi ....

I have searched through a few threads to try to find an answer to this question.... But no luck ...Is it possible to find out if somone is definitely qualified? I think that someone in my town isn't even though she is advertising as being trained by ITEC and CIBTAC. Is there a Register anywhere?

Thanks

maybe try and find out who she is insured by. if she has insurance then she is qualified.

hi shalom,
i found a web site called embody and they have a search page for people to find beautician, any way it might help you.
Embody Health & Beauty Guide - Home

hope it helps, if not i would email itec and see if they can help you.:)

I may well get shot down for this but what has it got to do with you hun? (in the nicest possible way!)

She may well be a competitor of yours but if she's going to fall flat on her face I'm sure she'll manage it without your help! Don't waste your time/energy trying to report her, mad mouth her or grass her up - it won't make you feel any better and in my opinion its a bit unpro.

Not having a dig chicken, I may be totally wrong! Unless of course you are thinking of employing her in which case she should be able to provide you with copies of her certs xxx

I don't know about a register

But out of interest what makes you think she isn't qualified?

In answer to chantelle Her shop has opened up right next door.... prices are very low and it is a small town so people know everyone. she herself is local.

In answer to sodabubble I can check if my Doctor is qualified, if the police call to me they have ID to prove their profession. Accountants etc i could go on.... So how can it be 'unpro' to leave someone do a job they may not be qualified in? And I don't understand grass her up etc.

E beauty thats a good suggestion. Think I'llmtry that

In reply to megaone thanks for your suggestion I will check out the web site and I have already emailed ITEC.

Thanks again

I cannot see for one minute what this has to do with you. And if you find out that she's not qualified what are you going to do? Yes you can find out about the qualifications of other people in other professions, but I really think that if you see her as a threat you should just carry on being the best you can be.

you say you don't want to leave her to do something shes not qualified to do? Again, I'd say it has nothing to do with you unless you're employing her?

best of luck, we all have competitors! xx

i'm with you on this one Sodabubble a bit of competition never hurt anyone and a whole load of time and energy will be wasted on worrying about her and not on your own business, by the way there are no laws or legislation dictating who can open a beauty salon. No qualifications required but quality will always out!!

I also agree there is not alot you can do as people such as ITEC may not give out other peopled details to you just beacuse you want them

the most important thing you should be thinking is if you have made inquires about her and maybe mentioned this situation to a friend who has mentioned it to her friend and word gets round (as you said its a small town) what if she is qualified this is her reputation and business and more importantly she could sue you for slander

best of luck with your salon:)

let,s face it if she ain't qualified she will end up doing a bad job giving the wrong advice burning somone the the wax or waxing off their entire eyebrow in which case you will end up with all her clients !!:)

Also usually people have their insurance on display along with their quals get one of your mates to go in and have a nosey parker !!
