I have luckily got myself a new client, who is going to become a regular for luxury mani and pedi.
She is 80 years of age and as such, has a few ridges on her fingers and toe nails. I used the girlfriend buffer on the finger nails and this got rid of most of them.
However on her toes, I used the 1200 side of a koala, then the girlfriend, but the ridges were still really obvious (as they were deeper than on her finger nails). Would it be safe for me to use anything with a lower grit (softly and only once over the nail of course)?
The toe nails were quite thick so I don't think I'm in danger of thinning the nail plate out too much. I used a frosted pale pink polish and it looked awful (well not 'awful' but unprofessional as it was like you could see the ridges in the polish). She likes pale colours-can anyone recommend something which wouldn't show the ridges up as much, preferably CND.

Hiya Get some ridge filler I wouldn't try to buff them out as you may thin the nail plate to much :)

Try and use a 240 grit. But if it was me and the ridges are really quite deep then I would use a 180. You just need to know what pressure to use to avoid damaging the nail. Usually older ladies have really thick toe nails and personally I think it's ok to use a lower grit file.

CND does a ridge filler base coat, it works really well. Buff to as smooth as you can and then use the ridge filler to fill out the nail instead of your usual base coat. The enamel should glide on much more easily.

Thanks geeks-x

My toe nails are horredously ridgy! Last week my bottle of CND Ridge Out Base Coat came, I used it on Friday night and it has made so much difference!
