Evening peeps!

Ok my best friend and my mum have nightmare nails, but not sure if it's my fault or not.

My mums nails and Clares stay on but they get really mucky where they need infilling if you get me, if my mum has 2 weeks re-growth it looks like she has been gardening with her bare hands! They just look grey and dirty(round the cuticle) and it's driving me mad.

With Clare last week she called me round and her nail underneath was full of grit and gunk, could it be she has weakened the acrylic by biting the nail on it's side and that is how scum has got onto the nail plate?(she is a biter)

I'm very clean, they have their onwn files etc, but the nails I do on myself always stay lovely and clean.

What is going on? xx

What products are you using?

That was Choice by NSI but it happens with the Attraction too

hiya hun not got much advice to offer - do they use cutcile oil? as my own cuticles and eponychiums are horrid and if I skip cuticle oil anything and everything will stick to the dry areas.

I think you're very pretty tho!! lol :)

do you give them aftercare advice?

OK
If someones nails look "scummy" by the time they need to have them done again it's time to think about how you are treating them.
And how THEY look after their enhancements.
Have they actually been gardening??
That would explain the problem.

Have they ever used a nailbrush when washing their hands?
Sounds so simple...but some people don't do this.
Cuticle oil...twice a day?
You love something...you look after it...

Perhaps you have some lifting that would explain some of this?
What prep do you do?

If there's any lifting it will look worse on that rebalance appointment.

Funnily enough I just got my mum some Avoplex Oil in brush form today to keep in her handbag, I think that is a factor in keeping them clean looking although I don't use it all the time myself but to be honest I'm always changing my nails so they probs don't get chance to get dirty, Clare could do with some of that too, I'm doing her bridal nails in a few weeks and I want them to be lovely whilst she is away (getting married abroad) but for that I'm using gel, hope they stay cleaner!

Oh and thank you so much for the lovely compliment (head swelling ha ha!)

Right, prepping here goes.....

I get them to wash hands then spray with sanitizer, tend to cuticles if they need it, take shine off nail, plush brush, nailpure, check for shine again, primer then away, is that enough?

I reckon cuticles ALWAYS need a good seeing too! The nonliving tissue is not always visible to the naked eye, I use the cuticle remover from CND xx

Yes:) biters cause their own problems, they nibble and pick until there is a gap and then once the gap or crack or chip is there any and every household job will allow dirt and muck and finally infections to set in.

This is not a dig at you its a comment in general, so don't get mad:hug:

Time and time again I see threads like this one,
a nail tech who has trained with a good company, uses quality products and says I have a client with .....................problem, my nails are fine, other clients are fine, what am I doing wrong, could part of the problem be that she bites her nails:eek:
For goodness sake, the enhancement is a jewel not a tool, if they were indestructible we would all be out of a job, you do a dam good job, you keep your self updated you spend a fortune on training and have the certificates to prove it and yet your first thought is, its me, closely followed by its my products.
And yet when you look at your own nails they are dam good.

Get your customer service hat on, look your client straight in the eye and tell them.
I told you and your after care leaflet told you, that if you did .............. you would ruin your nails.
I don't mind, I'll keep taking your money but I think its a real shame that you're treating your nails this way means that instead of lovely elegant hands you have these:eek:
Self confidence is your best business asset because it will give you poise, charisma and potential clients will look at you and think I want what she has
When you go to excel you will be surrounded by beauty professionals who are relaxed, walk tall and look good because all day long they/we are in their/our element. Learn from them, take it away with you and use it. This is your business your industry and even if it is mum, allowing a client to take that away from you is wrong.

My mum is a pain though she wants them pristine all the time, why did i learn nails I ask!!

God help her if she had to pay at a salon, she'd be there once a week for a no need touch up!

Ok i'm being tough! From now on!

She needs some marigolds and a good nailbrush, i'll say to her mum....look what are you doing with these nails that you have me bent over double creating! Look after them or i'm putting a nail ban on!! (evil laugh)

Then she'll give me the cute mum look and i'll say ok i'll some round and tidy them up, lets see how she gets on with Avoplex and she who must be obeyed has decided that she wants to try gel now, jeez!
