WOW I have NEVER heard of that but it sounds amazing!!! Who else does this??? I want this done NOW!!!:)

A couple of places in Leeds do it. Michelle at 'Totally Polished' in Driglington does it. It's called 'Hopi Ear Candles'.

I have some info somewhere if you want it.

My 'others' are Su-Do Spray Tanning, and will soon be followed up with Indian Head Massage, and Swedish Body Massage.

Nails will always be my main love though! Lots of people come in asking if I do eyebrows, either waxing or plucking. Unfortunatley I have to direct them elsewhere, so it certainly seems that it would be a good money maker!

But I want to concentrate on perfecting my nail skills before I go down any other routes just yet.

I'm a very lucky girl - rent space from someone who offers Hopi Ear Candles & am having it done very soon!!

Can I please ask, did you get it done yet, Mrs Geek? & if so, how did you find it?

Also, has any1 tried offering their services as "package deals"? (i.e. offering one discounted price for a package of several treatments?) I'm looking at doing this with the lady I work with (making up a "package" of her treatments and mine) and wondered if any1 had experience of this...?

Many thanks

PS - forgot to say... I offer nail extensions (fibreglass or acrylic powder dip), natural nail wraps (china silk), manicures and pedicures (including spa manuicure and pedicure options), nail art, nail piercing (but not on natural nails, of course!) and, all being well, I will be fully qualified in waxing (including Brazilian) by the end of June. I then plan to look at threading.

Its an ancient and natural way of cleaning the ears a candle made of unbleached cotton and beewax is inserted in the ear and lit. The smoke and heat swirl down through the ear canals and loosen any debris ie: wax, dead skin, ear mites. (anyone feel sick yet?) It helps people with sinus problems and other inner ear probs also it replaces syringing (which bloody hurts!) and its painless. (great for kids who get glue ear and it can mean no need for grommets.

bit off the track but well!!!
This sounds great, do you have a lot of clients for this? Do you offer this as part of any other treatment? ie facial or IHM? Do you have specialised training to do this?

Thanks for all your info,
Kirsty x

I am a beauty therapist working at home and currently offer the majority of "regular" treatments. I have just finished my advanced nail qualification and am currently training in gel, so at present only do "models" as opposed to full paying customers!

I also offer nail art, gel toe overlays, st. tropez tanning, ear piercing, electrolysis and indian head massage. I hope to do aromatherapy and reflexology in the future and brush up my skills in many areas. For example I am just introducing the Creative Spa treatments and am thinking about going over to Roll on waxing instead of using a spatula.

I love expanding my knowledge, my treatments and therefore hopefully my customer base  !!!

I am now considering studying this, and would be grateful for any feedback on really top-notch courses and popularity of the treatment - also costs of training and how much you charge per treatment.
Many thanks!

i do overlays and use forms (still practising) but the nails ive trained in are the inverted moulds no tips or buffing needed makes doing nails sooooo much easier!

I've just done the Thermo-Auricular Therapy course! I'm now completing client studies and portfolio..

We do all the systems at our salon, as well as the usual Dermalogica facials, massage, etc. We also offer Hydra Detox which involves putting your feet in water and detoxing, it's fantastic, we've had brilliant results with clients with skin conditions such a psoriasis and ezcema. You can see the toxins coming from the feet as the client sits with their feet in water. They will do a demo at your premises for you as well, i think the web address is www.hydradetox.com
