i got a small portfolio for my work already it is nothing special just 4 by 6 pictures in a photo album. But i wanted to know from you guys how u think it is best to do a portfolio??
how would you go about setting it out.

This is something i would like to know about too,
what do you put in it ?
just photos of your work,
what if you have had photos in a magazine, do you cut out the bit about you or save the whole mag,
and how do record and present if you have won any comps or awards etc...
and any other info i have forget to ask about lol

yes im wondering about this too...I want to build up a portfolio but i dont want it to be just a photo album...id like a scrapbook and photo album all rolled into one..i keep looking about for something but so far cant find what im looking for...to be honest i think somewhere down the line when i know i can produce a great set I would then look into getting a professional photographer to russle some magic up! but in the mean time i just take my own photos (good and bad)..write notes of what i did...what parts didnt go too well etc and just keep them for my own personal folio.

What is a portfolio for? Is it for like work progress and for job interviews?

Well its a record of your work...useful for interviews and also great for potential clients to be able to see what you can do...sort of like a showcase of your talent lol

Oh right i will have to keep that in mind then and keep a track of my work....i've got that burgandy leather portfolio from walton girls kicking about somewhere with very little in it, i knew it would come in handy some day pmsl

Why not? everyone got one for your c.v's
I still have my y10 & y11 write ups in them too....i will have to fish them out the attic when hubby comes home, would be funny to read and see what i wrote all them years ago

I have a little flip photo album ( like a brag book) that i have on my nail table... clients flip thru it while they are waiting etc... also if there is nail art I have a little price sticker on them so that there is no confusion when it comes time to pay...
clients seem to want it once they have seen it

yeah at the moment i got a little photo album with pictures in it but i want it to look more inviting and exciting, was thinking along the same lines xannabannax like a scrapbook.

Yeah a scrapbook is a good idea...i shouldnt' have any problems with that as im a scrapbooker :)
