Hi , I have decided to set up from home in my conservatory, I was just wondering if this seems a good idea and if anyone else has done this?
My spare room is too small and I cant afford to rent at the moment.

I have a few clients who think this sounds good but wanted more advice?

Thank you :D

I have set up in my conservatory and love it, so do my clients, it's not the biggest room in the world, but when the sun is shining it's glorious. (Plus it means the OH has to keep the garden in good order more so than before! BONUS!) Make sure you invest in a good fan or cooling system as they do tend to be like mini green houses during the summer! Just in the process of getting some plumbing sorted in there for a sink and it'll be all systems go! So IMO go for it! Wishing you every success xx

If I was your client I would think it was a lovely setting. Peaceful, calm and much more homely and welcoming than a salon environment. I wish I had a summer house but there is no space for it :(....

Wishing you luck

Zoe

Thank you both, for your replys.

I am very excited now. I will start to plan where things can go.

I will also get a fan as you are right it does get rather warm in there:Scared:

I will post some pictures to you when complete.

Do you have any pictures of your room? Thanks again.:wink2:

Hi there

I am currently too setting up doing mobile beauty and also using my conservatory. I agree a defo must about the fan and also in the winter I think I am going to need a heater of some sort, we have a radiator in there but the heat just seems to disappear into thin air!

I was just wondering how you all get on having clients coming through your house in order to get to your conservatory? I have a little girl and there are toys and baby stuff everywhere a lot of the time!!!

i think the main issue is not so much which room you use but more what else it is used for.

its important that it is not shared by the family during the time that you use it for work if you want it to remain professional.

i would be entirely happy attending an appointment in anyones home salon , but not really at ease having my nails done[or whatever] on the arm of someones sofa whilst their kids larked about in the corner, their dog licked its **** on the rug and the hubby was watching the football with a can of beer.
all completely normal family life but not what you expect in a professional environment.

so if you need to lead through your house to access it you need to keep that route under control. its not that difficult really and many therapists run completely professional operations from their own home.

Forgive me if I've read this incorrectly, but are you qualified yet?
I read in another post of yours that you were part way through your NVQ2.
If this is correct, just wondering why you would set up business now.
Mind you, I notice you have said what services you intend to provide :)

Just be carful if your using gel in a conservatory, it cures quicker in a conservertory than under a lamp, i did a client in hers and it was a complete nightmare ! I even lost a pot of gel !

I agree with everyone, the conservatory could be very relaxing and warm and good screnery! good luck babe! :) xx

This can work really well if it is done right. A friend of mine created a beautiful salon in her conservatory. Wood flooring and blinds a small hot tub, spa recliners and treatment area screened off........very tranquil. Go for it.

Being a gardner as well as a beautician, I think this is a lovely idea and I would add some fabulous plants to get your client back in touch with nature. Wishing you every success. xx
