Hi Guys,
I hope someone can help, over the past few weeks I have developed the most severe dry skin on my face, the easiest way to describe it is for anyone who knows how skin looks when you have a cast removed from a broken limb. I have changed nothing in my diet or routine, I can apply a good skin cream but then within hours it looks like I haven't bothered?
It feels as though I have a mask on the skin is so dry, any help would be deeply appreciated, as it is driving me nuts

I would say it is something that you have possibly developed an allergy to.It could be brought on by the time of year do you have hayfever.
Best bet would be to see doctor especially as its happened so rapidly.
Stop using what you are using maybe just cleanse and moisturise with aqueous cream. It may even be shampoo or washing powder on your pillow slips.
Another thought have you recently been on any medication.

Hi Gillian,
Many thanks for your reply, sadly I am already on lots of medication but nothing new, come to think on things the only thing I do differently is I now go swimming twice every week?
I just never thought about it seeing as I'm in water? Although I must admit it does tend to itch a little.
I will follow your great advice regarding the creams and also book an app with my GP.

Thanks so much once again. xx:hug:

Try barrier repair by dermalogica. Fantastic for soothing stripped dry skin.

Swimming pools do untold damage to hair, skin is no different.

Im not a doctor by any means, so I would check with them first or even a pharmacist. But I get dry skin patches on my hands every now and then for no apparent reason and went to the doctors, I was prescribed Elocon cream which stinks but works a treat. Then a few weeks ago I started getting dry patches on my face, so checked that the cream is ok to use on the face and it was. IT is AMAZING-after the first use it worked and then continued to use for a few days and now all dryness has gone and I am back so my normal moisturiser. But like I say Im not doctor /pharmacist so double check with them first and maybe ask if you could be allergic to chlorine if the dryness has appeared once you have started swimming.
