I saved this thread a while ago after avidly reading through from beginning to end, dreaming of the day when I got my own salon and could really go to town (I rent a space in a hairdressers at the moment). Well I'm totally chuffed to say I've just signed a rental deal on my own place which is opening 9th November so have been trudging through eBay, gumtree, freecycle etc. I've bought a dresser from ebay to display my stock (not delivered yet so when it is ImageUploadedBySalonGeek1378906407.112672.jpgImageUploadedBySalonGeek1378906417.805035.jpgImageUploadedBySalonGeek1378906427.842233.jpgI will take a pic), a telephone chair in need of serious TLC from gumtree and an antique desk for my nail desk for ebay. I'm just back from a lovely little annie sloan stockist, so here are a few pictures of my goodies ready for makeover xxx

Oh wow looks fab. Iv bought a tea trolley. Coffee table n 1 chair all ready to shabby chic. Need to find where to buy some paint. Is Annie Sloan the best or is there a gd alternative that is more widely available?

I can only recommend Annie Sloan as it's the only one iv used but it's amaze!!!! I think Laura Ashley do one but not sure. Where did you get your tea trolly from? xx

Yeh I had read that Laura Ashley does a chalk one. Seen it in homebase. But don't want to buy it for a couple of quid cheaper n it not be so good. Might find out where my nearest Annie Sloan place is n have a look.
I buy all my bits from local eBay. Got the trolley for 99p the coffee table 99p and chair £2. I'm a right little bargain hunter lol. If the seller writes shabby chic project on the items title then the item goes for such a high price. So I ignore them ones lol.

Oh I love your finished project. Are you keeping it or selling it on.

Thank you very much :)
I'm keeping it & it's going to be my little reception area in my salon :) xx

So glad I came across this thread! I have just purchased this lovely chest and am planning to 'Annie Sloan' it. Are you sure it needs no sanding? I have read that dark woods can bleed through so should I prime first?
My first project so want it to go well :) ImageUploadedBySalonGeek1381868649.366257.jpg

That's beautiful! I have just begun painting my dark wood telephone chair. I haven't sanded but it's taken 2 coats and a couple of extra touch ups on the detailed areas. I've been amazed at the coverage with no priming first xxx

What colours did you go for? Do you think the lighter ones will need more coats perhaps.
