Hey

I've just had a call from a lady who has organised a charity pamper evening at a church in town for this Friday but the therapist who was booked to do nail treatments has dropped out so she is calling round trying to get someone else to cover the appointments. They will be file and polish 5 mins for £5 (I usually charge £8) and a mini manicure 30 mins for £10 (I usually charge £15). She says she has got appointments booked from 6pm until 10pm.

I'm unsure on whether to go for it or not, i've only been set up doing mobile for about 2 months now and feel slightly like it might be jumping in at the deep end and if i'll get too stressed, I get quite nervous, I might mess things up.

On the plus side it would be good advertising, able to give out flyers and business cards, good experience and doing my bit for charity. They have asked for a donation or a donation and voucher. There will be other therapists there doing other treatments, so will be working alongside them, would be nice to meet other therapists.

What do you think about doing these types of events? should I go for it? Is there anything I should specificaly ask about?

If I had more time to prepare I wouldn't be so worried but I'm thinking it is quite short notice to get things ready.

Sorry I know these are slightly random questions but i've never done anything like this before! so any help or advice would be greatly apprieciated! :green:

I would say go for it, it will be good for you to advertise yourself and hopefully get more clients from it.
You will also gain loads of experience from it too.

Go for it! Recognise this as an opportunity and not a test. This is a prime marketing opportunity for you that is only going to cost you your time and a voucher. Build uo your confidence as this could be a dream for a mobile therapist!

Good opportunity .. I used to do loads of events like this when I started.

The cost of the treatments doesn't matter for this venue and don't go overboard with the donation either. :green: Mind you, you can't do a file and proper polish in 5 minutes, IMHO. To me a file and polish is a mini mani,

Ha I totally agree with you on that last line, I would at least count 10 to 20 mins for that.

but it obviously is a great obportunity and you make contact and this is a key thing in your business, IMO.

Thanks for your replys, sorry got my time wrong there, its 15 mins file and polish and 30 mins manicure. For the 30mins treatment I was thinking file, cuticle tidy, hand massage and polish/clear coat/buff. (Same as my normal manicure).

Also, I havn't yet built up much of a nail polish collection, have only got a couple of colours so i'm thinking I need to get some more (obviously now got time constraints of where I can get them from in time). What would you say are the most popular colours so I can take these along?

Thanks again for your help

you know, whatever you have will be enough for your clients. just make sure you have really classical hues, red-ish, purple-ish, seanson colors. and then you'll be fine.

Hi.

I too am a new mobile tech and I was asked to do a charity event. I was a nervous wreck before and during it, it but was so thankful afterwards as it really does build your confidence. At least you are in a position where you can make some money, I had to do it all for free. An awful lot of people do tend to go to these events. May I suggest that you stick with the file and polish. You will be surprised as to how many people actually want their nails done and they will queue around you until it is their time. You will still make as much money as if you were offering a mini manicure.

definitely go for it - you have all your flyers ready it sounds like just relax and enjoy it.
I agree on the colours: go for red, baby pink and a rich chocolate brown
Good luck sure it will be worth it and you will generate new business from it. :)
