Loving this thread! I specialise in spray tans but have just started doing lashes also.

Just a question, are these all individual lash extensions? I've trained in individual but now seen that express is quite popular. If you know individual is express a walk in the park?

I would love to know more and offer express also.

thanks

Hi guys & gals,
I'm using .15 lashbase mink lashes and I'm finding them too thin. I always feel disappointed when clients open their eyes. I try to lash every suitable lash but they're still so thin when face on. I try to avoid using thicker lashes but all the techs locally, are using extra thick lashes and my clients want and expect their lashes to look like that too. When I have used .25 lashbase lashes people are over the moon. :/

I was never trained not to use the thicker lashes. I'm only going by what you lovely kind geeks have shared because I'd hate to do harm to even 1 natural lash belonging to any of my ladies. I'm trying to be a good lash tech but it seems the more cautious I am, the more disappointed my clients are and the more disheartened I become. :(

I've got my volume training lined up but if I didn't have that to look forward to, I think I'd probably just jack it all in!!

Whinge, whinge, moan. Sorry geeks I'm a right misery tonight xx :(

I know a lot of you like Flirties lashes... I seen they are selling off some of their trays... Are they good lashes that are reduced or a waste of money? New to lashes and need to buy a few bits for my kit. X

It's the old branding so reduced. Most lashes are quite similar and at the price they are you can only try them

Noooo don't give up!

Have you tried with any other types of lashes? I haven't used LashBase minks but they might taper more than others and therefore appear less full. Also do you mix lengths and keep to shorter extensions to help the illusion of fullness?
I no longer stock lashes any thicker than 0.15 as I rarely found thicker ones suitable and they were never as soft/flexible.
This set was with 0.15s (premium silk)

My lady was disappointed with her lashes tonight and it felt horrible :( I did try to manage her expectations before hand and did as she asked focusing on volume rather than length but I could just see her disappointment afterwards. In an ideal world she would have liked volume lashes but that's not something I can offer at the moment. Does anyone else have this problem? How do you manage it? I agree try another brand - however if you want to be a good lash tech you need to stay away from that band wagon.

However in my own words - you can't polish a turd. Ie if ladies come in with thin sparse lashes u will never get a decent full set, if you overload with 0.25 they damage caused will mean they won't get full sets again because their lashes thin out over time

You must stick to your guns and be passionate that u will not damage the health of your ladies lashes - most ladies can not support the weight of more than a 0.15

You may also find people won't pay for volume lashes either / why would they when they can get a set of 0.30s stick on that look thick and spidery ( what they seem to love) and then happily complain and ruin the lash industry when all their lashes fall out

Are you new to lashing ?

Thanks guys x

I've been lashing since August. I just don't feel like I'm improving. I watch LieLash's tutorial for inspiration. 😊 love your 'polishing' comment. :) Xx

LMA those lashes look stunning.

This is the sort of thing I mean xx ImageUploadedBySalonGeek1392972010.438415.jpg

I wonder how it compares with her own natural lashes and a layer of mascara. :/

xx

Hi, these lashes look beautiful. I just wondered which supplier your lashes are from? I've tried AH Francis lashes, Lashbase Mink trays C curl, 0.15/0.20 & experienced some of the same issues as other people have mentioned on here and not been entirely happy and I see that you have done your set with what you called 'premium silk'. So I've tried normal synthetic lashes (?) , synthetic mink, where shall I look for some good quality silk-lashes? Is this the way forward?

Also, question to anyone & everyone, I'm a bit of a beginner & just easing my way in and having a few practices. I did a set the other night and the girl has been in touch and wants them removed she said they're lovely she just want to be able to wash/rub/give her eyes a good clean basically. Do you think this is a normal thing to experience with somebody that just doesn't really suit semi permanent lashes, or could it be something I've done wrong? I advised gently clean with oil-free cleanser , what else can you do !?

Thanks.
Hollie

Hi, I have only been lashing since Sept 2013 and I had a similar case, where this lady contacted me to get her lashes done, when I met her she was complaining about the previous company who did her lashes. I always send a text a couple of days after my clients have had their lashes done just to follow up and see how their lashes are and whether they are happy with them. This particular lady never responded. I then worded my email to her in a different manner and she replied saying "they are lovely but I went and got them removed by someone else cause I didn't have time to get them removed by you and I just want to have a break from them. I would be happy to come back to you sometime in the future when I want to have them done again". My response to my myself was "yeah right". Unfortunately there are going to be times when a client decides to have them removed. I have started using the following text and am finding clients respond 99% of the time. Text: "I just wanted to follow up to see how your lashes are and whether you are happy with them? I truly value each and every one of my clients and would appreciate any feedback that you may like to share". Obviously if they have any issues then you have the opportunity to fix it. Don't beat yourself up - it will drive you mad. I have made the decision not to let clients like this bother me and to move on. Good Luck.:)

I'd suggest tinting lashes like these before applying extensions, just because I can see the blonde/fair base of her natural eyelashes quite clearly. :)

Other than that they look lovely x

Thanks for your advice. Much appreciated.:)

These are 2d-3d volume so still quite natural using c curl 0.07 in 9mm 10mm 11mm

Hi,

I am new to eyelashes and just purchased my kit from lash base. I have got one pack of lashes so far, which are c-curl 0.20 length 8-14. I am wanting to purchases a few more packets of lashes, would anyone be able to recommend popular curls and lengths please?

I do understand that everyone is different :)

Thank you x

My most popular ones for classic lashes are
C curl 0.15 7mm, 9mm, 11mm, 13mm
Or c curl 0.15 8mm 10mm 12mm

I also like 0.10 c curl and 0.10 b curl

I rarely use d curls in classic lashes but I do for volume lashes in 0.07/0.06 6mm-12mm

Maybe get a fewire mixed packs in curls and thicknesses so you can try them and see what your clients want

Lashes are 8-12 c curl 0.2

Ha just watched your new tutorial! Thanks!!! Can't wait to get my hands on my next set of hoods :) xxx

Quick question?? Does everyone patch test for lashes? When I trained I was told that there was no need. However last year my insurance told me I need to apply a few lashes 24-48 hours before.

Thank you.
I'll bet your are improving. I think a lot of us are more critical of our own work.
And those are a massive improvement on her natural lashes! If she keeps off the mascara, who knows, her natural lashes might improve over time meaning you can get more on! xx

Those particular ones were these from ebay! "NEW" 0.15mm Individual Lash MIXED TRAYS for Eyelash Extensions"Premium Quality" | eBay
Pretty cheap as far as lashes go! Love a bargain. There are so many brands to choose from though, I'm sure you'll find loads you like in time when you try a few more out...

And you can use lash shampoo (1part baby shampoo 3parts water) and put in a foamer pump bottle to gently wash lashes with foam. I do give my eyes a cheeky rub now an then (don't go mental like) and am always fine. x
