Silk overlay

I do natural silk overlay on my mum's and boyfriends mums nails because they're quite weak, after its been applied I usually paint them with normal polish.

I know silk is only really meant to last a week or so but with that little but of strength from the silk could I also use shellac instead of normal polish?

I used shellac/gelish on top of fiber / silk wraps all the time and had no issues as its still flexable n gives a little more strength ive also found they last a little longer aswel... Hth x
