Hi Geeks

Hope someone can help. I cannot breathe after doing spray tans and ai always use masks that I buy from a hardware place for myself which say they are for dust mists fumes etc!!

Does anyone else have this problem and what do you guys use?

No joke It kills my throat and I sometimes choke coughing ages after tanning - I have a funny throat and nose as it is without tanning :(

I am doing 6 tans tonight and I know already it will kill me!!

xx

No, I don't have this problem - however, I do get some spray up my nose and have to give it a good blow at the end of the appointment ;). Do you have ongoing respiratory problems and is the condition made worse when spray tanning?
I would suggest maybe spraying with a window open or opting for an extractor if you don't already have one. Obviously if you're still having problems then speak to your GP.

Good Luck
:)

PS: What solutions do you use?

Yeah unfortunately i do lol constantly walking around with my hhygiene spray on hand although good is my clients think its hilarious and obviously I dont  its very fustrating when u never stop sniffing!!

I always need a good blow too haha Extractor fan check,, makes no difference to me although my clients are fine which is most important!!

As for GP I have went to ENT specialist and even they cant sort me out!!
I use White to Brown and California. In my last place I worked Tantruth and St Tropez were used and seems to make nod difference what I use!!

Thanks anyway for ur reply :D

Are we supposed to wear masks as I was never made aware of this when training...I don't do many tans to be fair but is there something in the solution that would make it dangerous to inhale?

Hi there yes as part of I surname you should wear a mask and also offer your clients masks - although most refuse it's just good practice . I use the Sienna facial mask fir therapist it has a breather built in a it's thicker it is much better then the paper ones if it persists check in with the doctor Hun x also and extractor will help and is also an insurance must and you need ventilation when tanning :) xxx

I normally open the window when tanning but never knew anything about masks. It doesnt really affect my chest or breathing but i was never advised i should wear one or offer one.

I like to wear a mask if I'm tanning although sometimes find them a bit annoying, if I don't I end up with brown nostrils! My friend who also does tanning wears one x

but is this based on how many tans a week you do as sometimes i'll do 2 a day but most of the time i don't do that many and have never had brown nostrils either so maybe i don't need it or maybe if you do loads you need them? I was never taught however to use them at all and I did my training 2 years ago or more...?

This has definitely been a problem for me!
I always get brown bogeys which I clean at the end of my tans however if I do about 3 or 4 tans in a row when I get home I find my breathing to be very bad, I am slightly asthmatic although never diagnosed, also have the occasional panic attack which I think contributed to this.

I have always thought about wearing a mask however I was worried that my clients would find it rude or weird x
