hi

i work in a salon but im trying to go mobile iv done a little advertising on the internet with no success any one got any ideas on how to get started unfortunaltly i work very close to my home so i dont want to operate from my house . im not going to tell any of my clients from the salon either. any one got any tips ??

Be very careful. Check what ur contract says about this.

Do you have any business cards????? I put them everywhere and anywhere that I can.

Try not to use your name on any form of advertising and try not to tell any clients that you do mobile, where you work.

The only way to get your name out there is to advertise, and paid advertising at that, but if you don't want to advertise the fact that you're mobile I don't see how you can do it...... if you don't advertise how do you expect to get clients?

I'm part-time was full-time but they hired people when i was on meternity leave and didnt get rid of them . contract does not mention i can not work with in what ever radius . also iv asked for more hours and they wont open my diary up any more even thou clients are requesting) forcing me to live on a low wage ( i have a family) i dont plan on doing any work in the same town any way. plus they hired a therapist who worked from home ......

im going to trade under a difffernt name my surname which i get called by even if people dont know it ( must look like a ***** obviously wont be disclosing that lol) .

i want to ask for a copy of my contract ( as for mine dose not mention any restrictions) but dont know what to say its my mum that wants it shes a nosy social worker lol and obviuosly its a good idea.

i know people have had bad experiences but there are several people who do work for them selves that work there and its acknolged in there contracts ( massage mainly) .
i have no intentions of taking their clients i think its unprofessional.
iv spoken to a friend of mine who has a good clientel ( acupuncture) and shes going to pass on my details she said shes got several people looking so thats a start.

i really like my job and my collegues and dont wont to jeperdise it but at the same time i need to start paying of my debts im selling more working more but not seeing much of a difference in my pay packet .

I put a clause in my staff contracts that they are not allowed to work in competition with the salon. I think you are on dodgy ground here. You have to declare your mobile earnings as well as your earnings from your job. If you don't and you get caught by the taxman (yes it happens more than you think) then you will get done for tax aviodance. If you register self employed then the tax office will write to your employer with a change of tax code.
Few employers will allow their staff to set up a mobile business on the side as it poses an obvious risk to the salon.

But like i said they have employed people knowingly that they run a buisness from home , iv decided im going to approach them and ask them for advice i get on really well with them and its not in my contract and really i have no choice i need to work i cant be forced to work part-time forever . i will be doing different treatments to them any way ( spray tanning false lashes.....) they do more laser and peels . theres a salon next door and they dont even regard them as serious competition .

Have you asked them if you can work full time again, saying you have other skills that you can offer them that they don't offer already?

Miss Sparkles idea is the first rout I would take, failing that explain that you will only be offering non salon treatments. As long as you stick to that and are honest and upfront, I don't see that anyone can complain.

yes iv been asking them for about 6 months and i did take up sundays meaning i get no family time and i was wanting to do one of the week days i dont do ( tues , thurs or fri) . it is building up and i just looked at my wages and they where actually really good for once lol
