Hi everyone, I did a full set of L&P on a new client yesterday, I think they must be the worst nails I've ever done. When I was shaping the free edge I noticed that the tips weren't applied properly. When looking 'down the barrell' there is a big gap between the free edge and the tip:o. I don't even know how this happened and I really don't know if there is anything I can do except offer to soak them off and redo them.

I was feeling really sick with the flu and nearly passed out a few times doing her nails so I just didn't say anything, all I wanted to do was go home and sleep. I'm feeling better today, now I can't believe I've done this.:smack: She will probably call soon to complain, does anyone have any advice? Can anything be done to fix them?

First of all, if she rings you, offer to redo them free of charge, with an apology. Thats definitely the most important thing.

Soak off and start again...keeping this in mind:

Sounds like either the tips weren't sized right and popped "up" on you and/or you didn't use enough adhesive.

When using tips, nine times out of ten, I customise them cos they are off just a skosh bit on the sides usually. When you size the tip should lay flat on the nail and if its too big on the sides overlapping, just file em down.

I used to HATE tipping, and prefer sculpting but now that I use good quality tips (CND Velocity and Performance tips)....I don't mind tipping. I still prefer to sculpt mind, but the quality of the tips has a lot to do with it as well.

HTH's

Nancy :)

Dont know if this might help.....when applying tips hold the tip on a slightly downwards angle so that it is lying completely flat on the nail but lying slightly downwards instead of straight on...iykwim....

Eni, That sounds like what might have happened (tips popping up), she did have wide, fan shaped nails that were hard to size. In my flu-medicatcated daze I probably just didn't pay attention to what I was doing when tipping.

So I guess I'll have to soak off and reapply:cry:, maybe I'll just sculpt this time

Hi Ange,

Sculpting is the bomb in situations like this. And you can also extend the nail bed if need be too!

Good Luck
Nancy
