6 You must have all the items you need for the competition with you at the commencement of the competition time. No items can be passed to you and nothing can be removed from your bag after competition commences. All bags are to be removed from the competition area.

7 All time limits will be strictly adhered to – competitors not present when competition commences will not be admitted to the floor. Penalties will result if any competitor continues to touch their model after time has been called.

8 In the event of less than 5 competitors in any one category, that category may be combined with another in the same class, cancelled or held with a reduced number, in which case first place only will apply.

i found this really interesting.
i was wondering if competitions are popular over in oz, i would be very daunted by the time limit, you dont have long to get things perfect:eek: . doesnt this put people off entering?

The general comp sounds similar to ours over here in the UK.

What struck me was that they supply the polish you have to use and also the 'backfill' competition.....

Do you realy have a rebalancing competition? How does this work? Do they give you a model to do your best with or do you supply a model?

I may have totally misread, but that comp sounds great to me, it's more real life....a bit like the salon nails comp they have in the states.

The polish is provided so every competitors finished nails are a uniform color (lord knows everyone seems to have a favorite shade of red), better to have just one (different suppliers take turns providing them each year).
For the backfill comp, you bring along a model that needs a fill (your model is pre-judged) so if she needs lots of work, you will get more points upfront, less work, less points up front.
The Oz comps have been developing quite nicely over the past 20 years and are quite realistic in relation to times.
The speed competition is amazing to watch (particularly to judge).
Longer times are often allowed for the invitation only events for previous winners to demonstrate (hopefully) perfection on a competition floor.
There are usually 3 comps a year (often a few more put on by distributors), the major comps are held in conjunction with the beauty expo, so there's always heaps to look at, as far as nails go, there would be about 20 product lines/nail companies. As well as lectures and demos galore. The Sydney Expo is the largest and longest running event in the Southern hemisphere.
