Hi all - please help! ive only recently finished my spray tanning course and got my kit etc the other day. My problem is that i am a bit of a perfectionist and i would rather practice on a number of people before going out there and charging, but im struggling to gather a healthy number of people to practice on!. I have 3 friends who i can call on but 2 others are pregnant and another lives in cornwall!!. My poor boyfriend doesn't fancy walking around in a permanently tanned state lol. Anybody had similar problems starting out? can anyone suggest things i could do to get people to practice on? Many thanks xx

I would start charging but maybe at a reduced rate,I have recently done my spray tanning training as well,I practiced on 4 people but have now started working on paying clients.
I haven't done it at a reduced rate but if you are worried about problems arising then perhaps this is the best way forward.Practice makes perfect.I found the hands were my big issue (colour grabbing),however I have done two recent tans last thursday and heard nothing back in the salon regarding them so I am assuming(fingers crossed that the hands and everything else turned out well)I did make sure I was very careful when spraying this area, pulling back the gun and avoiding going down onto the palms when doing the inside of the arms.
Anyway,good luck.xx

thanks babs - sounds like you have got over the scary bit!! - i never realised how worried i would be over it, i will be mobile to begin with and i have all my leaflets ready and waiting to go ..........but im just wanting to feel really confident before they get delivered. i was thinking of offering an introductory price as you suggested, anyway thanks for reply and continued good luck to you x

Im not really over the scary bit if im honest, still worried about the hands in particular, but just going to be extremely careful when spraying them.Introductory course would def be the way to go if very worried.

There's a models required social group on here if that would help.

You could also try my salon guinea pig site, Salon Guinea Pig - Find models for practising hair, beauty and nails treatments, college courses, training courses, competitions, etc. to find possible volunteer models in your local area.

Thanks ruth - ive been on your salon guinea pig site (really good) met a couple of models for my makeup business which was great - couldn't find any ladies in my area for the tanning but will keep looking.

Oh cool. Where are you on Merseyside? I'm in Shrewsbury so it's a bit of a trek but possibly do-able if you are desperate.

ahh thanks for that, appreciate it - just managed to rope in one of my makeup models!! lets hope she has friends who may be willing and able lol. Good luck with all your stuff.

Siennasol do a practice spray. It contains no DHA, just the guide colour that washes off.
You can spray your boyfriend every day then if he lets you! This way you still get the practice and you can practice on the same person over and over again without them getting a tan :)
