The influence of india culture on the uk - Today, 03:28 PM

Hi every one, I am doing this topic for my foundation degree assignment and would like to get as much if information through my research.
I would like to ask what products are popular in the U.k that originate from india and the treatments that orignate from india and how are the U.k salons / spas influenced by using there products and treatments. What product brands come from india that are used in the u.k salons and what brands do india use that are popular in the u.k. Alot of indian population go to the indian /asian salons that have large asian / indian communities in areas of the u.k. why is this and what is it that attracts them to the treatments they have. Some asian / indian salons offer treatments at a lower price and are quite busy in the salons. Is there a indian spa that asian / indian people go to in the u.k. Is there a big difference in staff training. Is there indian famous beauticians, holistic therapists etc that staff can be inspired by.

From my own experience I can think of Indian Head Massage, it's a very popular treatment adapted from a treatment that is popular in India. However, having said that, there was a lady on my course who was of Indian origin (her parents moved here when she was small) and she said the IHM she was taught was nothing like the ones her grandmother used to give her!
I gather Ayurveda is popular in the UK too - but I don't practice it and must admit I don't know much about it.
And threading - wasn't that a treatment that originated in India?

I offer Ayurvedic facials. I don't work in a salon but at a retreat where the Indian philosphy fits in nicely with the ethos of the retreat. Ayurvedic treats the whole rather than the symptoms (holistic) and it is a luxury for the skin because the oils are so pure and are adapted to the three body types (Vata, Pitta and Kapha).

Indian Head Massage as mentioned above, is a very popular treatment over here although it is blander than the treatment you would get in India.

How about henna body art too?

Over the weekend I have done so much research morning till night and there has been little research in the u.k, so I am going to give this topic a miss. thankyou again for your comments.
