Hi all,

I've done a set of gels on a friend and twice now, both thumbs have popped off after about a week! What am I doing wrong? I'm using white tips and the Edge gels (although I have just received the starter kit for NSI balance gels with a view to upgrading my products). I'm using white tips - should I sit the tip further back on the nail? - I didn't want it to look too low down.

Thanks

Hi there i am new at this but i have been told that some people have small thumb nails. If this is the case it is most likely not you but the fact there is not much to bond to. In these cases they only last about a week. Hope that helps.

Ditch the white tips and learn to sculpt Id say , may be its just the shape of her thumb nails wont take the tips .

it could be that you are not getting a proper cure on the thumbs.
are you using a single bulb lamp, are you curing the thumb seperately.

another problem common to thumbs is that you are having to force the tip to fit the nail because of the size or flatness of it. when the gel is cured the tip will pop back up to the original shape and the thumb nails will come off.

remember that it is not the tip that gives strength to the nail however strong the tip may seem. it is there purely to give length and a support for the product you apply. you must build the structure with your product correctly to acheive adequate strength.
