hi everyone, i dont know if any one will be able to help me with this but its just advice im looking for, thanks in advance. I am working mobile at the moment and hope to carry on with it as its going really well, but im having a baby in november and dont want to loose too many clients or upset anyone, but also dont want to go back too soon and it be hard work for me. My first thought was too take october and the first two weeks off in december (about 6 weeks in total) as baby due nov 12th. Does this sound ok? thanks again.xx

is this your first baby? I'm not sure 6 weeks is enough to take off unless you intend to go back ad hoc.
you may be entitled to statutory maternity leave also.

If you are entitled to more paid time off i would take it, you dont want to get caught out doing the odd bit by the taxman though . It really depends on your childcare arrangements and the hours that you plan to work , I went back to work part time 3 months after i had both of mine , but if circumstances would have allowed i would have worked more .

Take all the time off you need, at the end of the day you only have the first weeks once!
Clients come and go and as much as it eases everything to keep who you have gained, for a whole multitude of reasons, you will be able to build it back up again even if you do loose a few.
the only thing that may dictate is money, but see what benefits you are intitled to, they may also be willing to come to you for a few visits till everythings settled hths and congrats!!

I haven't had a holiday or time off for 5 years.
Make use of the time off you have .... gawd, having a baby would be havoc for me.
The last time I had a break was 5 years ago when I had pneumonia, even then I went to work, ( I was a very sick puppy)........
then a furious client (who was a nurse) gave me a stern talking too (asked me what money I would take over 2 weeks).
She went to the bank, withdrew the money, came back to the salon, gave it to me, demanded I leave the salon, then escorted me home.
I have never been so sick in my whole life, I couldn't get out of bed (it was like meals on wheels), clients would bring food to the salon and I would get a delivery in the morning and a delivery in the evening.
I will never forget what these wonderful people did for me.

Oh Carl what a lovely thing that lady the nurse did for you ,
and those lovely customers helping too.
It's at these time that we never forget the wonderful people who gave up their time to help out
it makes you feel really humble when people do things like this
it really shows that people actually do care :hug:
