Just out of curiousity how many fellow geeks actually rasp the foot whilst providing a pedicure and if so at what stage would you do this?

It seems that different folk have various methods and I am intrigued...

I only ue an abrasive file and a foot scrub. Anything harsher required and I refer them to a chiropodist. But then I haven't been trained to use anything more.

Hi JoSu,

I use the rasp along with the foot scrub, after I have done any filing and cuticle work, but before the massage and paint! :) HTH. xxx

I use a rasp and exfoliater. I spray clients feet to sanatize, check for contraindications then rasp while the feet are dry. I then soak and exfoliate.

i soak the feet first to soften skin, then apply exfoliator, after rubbing foot and while exfoliator is still on i use grater/file on hard bits, then they pop foot back into water and i do other foot

I used to rasp until about 6 months ago but I never really liked rasping, as I found it left the skin very rough (Probably just me rather than the method!). Now I use the OPI foot file and I love it. Far more effective and more gentle in my opinion :)

I would never use one! If you cut skin off from your feet, your body reacts by chucking it back at you, double the amount. Not a good look. It's a quick and easy method of getting rid of hard skin but using a foot file can do the same job but over a longer period and it's better for you xxx
