Ok, so I am not the best at my nail diseases at the moment, and don't want to 'mis-diagnose' my boyfriend by saying I think this or this..... etc. (I know a nail tech can't diagnose, but he keeps askin me my 'professional opinion')

Basically, his toenail started going yellow 2 weeks ago and now is fully yellow, he says it doesn;t hurt, and I put it down to him hurting his toe at work because of wearing wellys. He now is saying he can lift the nail slightly and see underneath it, it still doesn't hurt him and it hasn't spread to any other nails.

Is it an infection? he has an appointment at the doctors on friday but I wasnt sure if he should go before friday?

Being a nurse, to me it sounds fungal. If he can lift it and see underneath it, chances are he is going to lose it. Go the the doc, get some anti fungal cream.

Hiya,

Keep the nail short and clean at all times...try cura a nail from your chemist or take a freh clipping to your gp for a report.
If it is fungal you can get some anti biotics
I found cure nail great for my hubby

My hubby currently has this. Sounds like the same thing. Fortunately it hadn't infected the whole of the nail at the time. He has been prescribed tablets by his GP and he's currently finishing his second month of these and it still has to completely grow out yet so I think it will be another repeat prescription for a little longer.

He didn't have to take a sample in for testing though. The gp just diagnosed it on sight and he got a prescription immediately.

It sounds like the fungal nail infection I had about 10 years ago, the doctor would not perscribe anything for me so I used lots of tea trea oil and eventualy I lost the nail and a new healthy one grew underneath.

is it the big toe ?
it could just be trauma cused by the weight of his work boots, the nail will eventually replace itself

It's the one next to his little toe, I keep telling him to go to the doctors before friday but he wont as he gets paid on friday.
I'm paranoid its gonna spread to me as we share a bed or is it not that kind of infection?
