I subscribe to professional beauty but can people recommend any other trade magazines?

I wouldn't go for professional beauty if I am honest, I don't think it's all that great. I'd go for one called guild and also scratch. If you're a member of a professional body you'll hopefully get their magazine too - babtac's vitality is good.
