Hi Geeks

I was just interested to know how many people charged clients a trainee/New qualified price when they started working on the public, if so for how long did you do this. If you have a qualification how many of you keep on training ?

hi i just recently finished my calgel course and i was doing a lot of sets while i was training and was not charging at all at first then started charging 30euro(im in ireland) when they were turning out ok and once i felt confident and the nails were a professional standard i put up my prices, i am new to this but i think you should be carfull about charging low prices as it is very hard to put them up later.. hope this helps a little hon..

Hiyah

When I first qualified back in 1999 I spent my first year doing nails for free which at the time all my family thought id lost the plot but I was lacking in confidence and also to build a clientele base and this worked for me, I am currently undertaking some further nail training and this time I will charge £15 as a training price and will ensure all victims lol know that its a one off whilst practising :)

thats, a good point about being able to put the prices up thanks I think I need to practise a few.

no probs hon if i was you i would practice on family and close friends and on yourself as much as possible!! i started charging one of my friends 15euro for overlay when i was training (which is very little in ireland as the salons are charging aprox 50) and i put my price up a bit and i just cant bring myself to say to her that its a new price, i even handed her a price list last time and said to read it and she didnt haha, i swear next time i will say it straight out lol.. so just be carefull not to get yourself into that sort of thing, a good idea is not to say its a training price just call it a special offer till end of jan or something then it would be easier to put it up

Put up a notice where ever you are going to work from stating that it is x amount for a limited time and to see your price lists for regular prices,

i charged £15 when i first qualified,
and yes i do still take further training all the time,
i already have 6 courses lined up and booked for the new year hth

When i started at the salon first we used to charge half of the normal price for about a month. Gained a client base and practise.

I also suggest to advertise on gumtree, people are always looking for bargains.

hope this helps:hug:

My advice is to charge £15 at least, that is what I did and if I needed to try something out I used to go to my mum who I wouldn't charge. Make sure your clients are aware that it is only for a limited time though. I would think most geeks will say they are training now as we are leaning every day. I am currently arranging my conversion to EzFlow hopefully in Jan '09 and will continue to learn from there.
