I have been offered a course in Spain training as a nail technician and receiving an edge certificate on completion. Has anyone else trained through Edge?
Between CND and Edge which is best and is it easy to buy products for both in Spain?

Any help and advice would be appreciated.

Hi hun,

I have trained with the edge but given the choice i would choose creative without a seconds thought! the edge is okay but imo its a lower end range of products and there training leaves out a lot of things that are vital to any nail tech! I've had a lot to learn since i trained with them.

Any more questions about the edge training please let me know!

Hi Jodie,

Thanks for your response. I have been informed by the training provider in Spain that i can complete an intensive course which includes the same modules as the ITEC level III course however without the ITEC qualification and receiving The Edge certificate. They have explained that i can convert the certificate with them to an ITEC at a later date should i require as they also teach this qualification.

I am in two minds at the moment of the best route as being a newby to all of this i don't want to make the worng decision initially regarding my training. Although i am based in Spain i may need to return to UK at some point and notice that a lot of companies require an NVQ. ITEC, i have been informed, is the equivalent of an NVQ, which is leaning me towards that course, however a lot of others seem to rave about CND.

I have seen that with CND the products appear more expensive and understand that to purchase their products you need to have completed their course whereas The Edge i believe can be purchased by anyone. Is that correct?

I think i have done too much research now and am starting to go round and round in circles.

Do you know which parts did the Edge training leave out that CND provides?

Thanks again for you help

To be honest alot of companies dont recognise the edge courses. People have even told me that my certificates arent worth the piece of paper its written on! (i thought that was a bit harsh).

On my course the theory part was covered so quickly that by the time i left i couldnt remember hardly anything - so i had to go home and really work at the theory. I also wasnt taught to prep the nails properly and wasnt told how important perfect prep was and therefore my first few sets of nails flopped badly! i had lifting after only a day - luckily i had practised on my mums nails and hadnt charged her! i did alot of reading and alot of research on this site and texts book and realised what i was doing wrong. the edge do provide a manual but its no more than 15 pages which IMO is not nearly enough information or guidance. The throw you in the deep end and i left confident i was going to be the best nail tech ever to come across loads of problems and felt so disheartened i nearly gave up! luckily on of the girls on here took me under there wing and looked after me and made me realise with the right guidence i could get there in the end.

Creative products are more expensive but IMO and thousands of others they are worth ever penny extra they are much better quality as is the training!

Im hoping in the future i will be able to do a conversion course with them because they truly are the masters of nails

I hope that answers all your questions hun. if you ever need any advice or more info please feel free to PM me x x x

If you do your CND training in Spain you will most probably be taught by the legendary Gigi Rouse, an honour that most would sell their husbands for,
she is called geeg on here,
do a search and you will see what i mean, hth

Thanks for all the advice. I see what you mean about being taught by Gigi being an honour. I have sent her a PM and just hope that i sent it correctly and she has received it as i am very keen to train with her.
Fingers crossed that she will respond soon.
Thanks again for your help.

I also trained with EDGE and am struggling to keep nails on as the tips keep coming off, don't think i'll ever have to master infills, as they won't be there in 2 weeks!!!! think it is prob due to poor prep but where do I go from here to learn where I am going wrong. Do you know how much it is to convert to Creative. Is that who you would recommend as opposed to OPI/CALGEL/BIOSCULPTURE.
