Hi All

Im just wondering which UV Lamp you reccomend, as there is so many out there.

I want a reasonable one but im not sure about paying £100 +

Hiya,

I have the Creative Brisa UV Lamp. It's a little more expensive than some, but IMO really worth it. It's smaller that a lot of the more bulkier lamps you can buy, so fits nicely on a workstation. It's also designed for client comfort. And you can also buy replacement liners and it also has an indicator light that tells you when the bulbs are running out.

I'm sure if you were to purchase the Brisa UV lamp you would not regret it.

you should purchase the one that your gel manufacturer recomends. its important that lamp +product are compatible.

Why when you did your class and training and bought your gel did you not buy the lamp that is made to cure it? I can never understand why people would think of doing anything else. It really does show that you do not understand the products you are working with as lamps are made differently for different gels (unless you are just using a generic type of gel that any 'Barbie doll sun bed' will cure!! :lol

However, if you are using a branded line of gel that is professional, then use the lamp that goes with your gel.

Let's hope it cures your generic gel then. Thing is, you won't know if it hasn't cured it until a client or clients or you become allergic to the uncured product! It is so silly to live and learn the hard way when the right way is pointed out to you.

I don't use a UV Gel topcoat but I have always wondered the following:

If you use L&P and only need a lamp for a UV topcoat, would you then be able to use a generic UV lamp to cure that or would you buy the actual UV lamp for the GEL system of your brand (even if you aren't using the GEL system for your enhancements)

Hmm....kind of run on sentence but basically, if you only need a lamp for a UV topcoat, why wouldn't a generic lamp work?

I've never used a UV gel topcoat cos I didn't think it was cost effective to buy a $400 UV lamp for a topcoat application. But thats just me and as I said, I don't use a UV topcoat anyway (and don't have any burning desire to use one either).

It depends on the UV top coat!! If you use Brisa Finishing Gloss you need the Brisa lamp, but others such as Young Nails Finish Gel and Quattro from Star Nails will cure in a generic lamp......

I've got the Brisa lamp so I use it to cure all types on UV top coat because I know it will. Generic lamps will not cure Brisa Finishing Gloss, and I know because I tried!!

So really "generic lamp" doesn't really tell you much either cos you can get a 9watt or a 36watt....

It isn't the wattage that makes the difference but the number of bulbs, the type of bulbs (how much UV output) and the placement of the bulbs.

Simply becausue there are so many gels that in fact are exactly the same under a different name.
