Water Marble Nails

Hi,

I've bought a cheap plastic bowl to have a go at water marbling. I was wondering. If I use the marbled tips (that's if I can make them ). Can I use acrylic over the tips? (as you would if you were using white tips) Can you use acrylic over polish?

I usually water marble on top of a set of nails and just seal with a top coat....the last ones I did literally lasted weeks without chipping!
