In a world of my own!
hi
i had a new client bring her 14 year old daughter along with her while she was getting a treatment the other day. during the treatment my client asked me if i would be willing with her consent to start giving her daughter some treatments starting with waxing (brows) she then went onto explain that she had asked her previous therapist before to wax her daughters brows and she refused and the reason she gave was that the young girl was too young and as she got older, through her teens and her hormones changed, so would the way her hair grow and told my client to bring her daughter back when she was older.

so my question is, is that right? i have dug out all my college books and homework and cant find anything and just wondered if any of you waxing experts could shed some light.

thanks

as long as you have consent from her mother it will be fine. It would be alot better for a professional to do it, than to leave her to tweeze away at her eyebrows for the first time and ruin the shape of her own eyebrows and maybe end up taking way to much off.

Hi,
I personally think as long as you have parental consent and the parent is present during the treatment then there shouldn't be a problem...

However our insurance doesn't allow us to carry out waxing on anyone under 18 because it's a heat treatment.

Never heard of the changing hair growth during teenage years thing, but that doesn't mean to say it's not right... might have to research that one :)

I have several teenagers, daughters of clients, who I wax on a regular basis. I personally will not do any girl under the age of 12 and that would be for waxing rather than tanning or nail extensions. It is up to the therapist. Check with insurance first and, obviously, get mum's permission. :)

I regularly wax my daughter's eyebrows and her friend's. She's 13.

I would check with your insurance as some have the age of 18 years and some only ask for your clients to be 16 years of age as its a non invasive treatment but best check with yours to make sure.

In any case go through the consultation with her and her mum and have her mum sign the consultation form/ disclaimer to be on the safe side.

Hi
I will check with my insurance before i go any further. I was more worried that i could do anything now that would effect the way her hair grows in, in the future.

Thanks for all your reply's and advise.

No you won't do anything to her hair in the future apart from maybe weaken it on the areas you are waxing, which is a good thing! :)
