What are American Nails?

Im doing a client tonight and she has asked for American Nails, Just wondering what these are? Googled it but still unsure and even my tutor didnt know!
Can someone please help...

Im sure I will be corrected if im wrong, but I always thought that american nails are when you use white tips. Some people like the crisp white with clear overlay over the top. If someone asked me for these this is what I would use. Some people also call these the fake look, or porn star nails. Depends what look you want. Also they tend to have them really long with loads of white. Thanks. Abi

I have bever heard of American Nails....and I really don;t want to guess or speculate as to what they may be, the best person to ask would be the potential client,as if she has had them before she will be able to tell you what she means.

There is an American Manicure look (as opposed to Frech manicure) which is similar to french but using a cream colour on the free edge rather than white and a beigey tone on the rest of the nail instead of pink
A very sophisticated look, in my opinion.

If this is what she means, then she might be quite shocked if you give her porn star nails instead!!!!

Im all New to this and just finishing off my college course. Im working mobile atm and had a few nasty clients so i just wanted to get this client right as need to keep my confidence up.
Will ask her what she means by American tonight, Im just hoping its not pornstar nails! lol :o

Ive had a few people ask for american nails, and ive asked them to give more detail and they have said, pink and white, but the very bright white and pink.. porn style is a good description

They say french manicure is the more natural looking.

Yes you are correct - french are bold white tips and American are cream more natural looking, but you can use pink, beige or apricot undertones on rest of nail.

Not that I watch these - but when i've been channel flicking I LMAO at them as their nails are incredibly long, square as a ruler, bold white!!! I'm surprised they don't do themselves or others any serious injury :o. I think the girls from the Playboy mansion have alot to do with it!! LOL

I had a client few months ago had the most awful enhancments on, thick far too long, and kinda creamy all over, she said her tech said they were new american nails,,pmsl,, I asked why where they american, and if they where new id know about itmmgosh they were awfull.,,,,,I done her a soak off re-applied new set alot shorter very pretty natural looking, I could tell she hated them because they looked natural, and never re-booked, some people love thick false looking nails,,,god knows why??? xxx

I was told that American Nails were like french except you use a more visible pink and a crisp white.

I did her nails last night and she usually has her nails done in a dodgy cheap nail bar. She said that they use white tips acrylic the nail pink and then varish over the tip white! No cuticle prep done or oil offered.
I just did her a french acrylic and she was very happy with them and even rebooked for her infills and a pedicure and brought some nurture oil from me
Even though it took 2 1/2 hours to complete with the odd break to sort her little girl out etc I was very pleased with them.
