Hello all,

I posted on here a while ago asking about acrylic nails courses and got some good advice (thank you all who replied) but now my beauty course is nearing the end, im starting to wonder if its worth me just doing another year in college (im going to have to pay for the kit and fees anyway) rather than a load of courses which will cost me more in the long run.
Just wanted to see what all of you think and if you can give me any advice?

:)

I think this topic has been debated endlessly here on the site and private training seems to come out on top every time as being the most efficient way to go where nails are concerned.

In your last thread about training you were given lots of options to choose from re private training.

Good private training is faster, and better value for money too and you are being taught by people who know the products inside and out so that you will get the best out of them. At college unless you are blessed with a really good trainer who knows exactly what she is teaching with (which most don't) then I'd go private every time.

to do what exactly at college for another year thou?? level 2 nail diploma? look thoroughly at the course and be sure you have a good tutor. Certainly don't dismiss college education in nails- there are some good teachers out there , but it will take time- private is alot quicker so do explore your options to decide which course is right for you.

I also had this problem and I have got the Essential Nails home course. I bought the Acrylics one, then ordered the Gel and the Maintenance ones. I have only been doing it a couple of weeks but work full time too so don't practice all the time. I wish now I had just booked a college course or a private course because I don't have anyone to help me. I seem to be doing ok but don't know whether to send in my exam card or not because I don't know if they are good enough and don't want to fail. Also I don't know if I would get any work as I don't know if their certificate would be accepted and it has cost a lot. For what I have paid I could have done a proper course covering all three and probably fibreglass included.

I want to do the NVQ level 3 nail tech course. Someone has said on here that the tutor at my college (Caren) is very good. Most of my friends are already on the course and seem to have learnt alot and are enjoying it. Im just a bit stuck seeing as im absolutely skint.

.. gooooooddd so you can get straight onto it without level 2 nails? thats good cos at present i wont be accepting anyone without level 2 but you'll be fine im sure.. If you have recommendations from your friends id say GO FOR IT.. simply because you will cover sooo much in one year, such as sculpting in gel and acrylic, coloured work, 3d, airbrushing, embedding and all advanced nail art.. now if you did all these privately what would it cost??? hmmmmm.. i'll pm you with the figure my accountant gave me for all my training.. it the tutor is good and knows her stuff. then you are set! whats another year?( i did 5! )
