 Hi all i currently do IBD gel and acrylic but dont get on too well with the gel side of things and i was just wondering what everyone thinks the best brand is? please help :)

What's up with the gel side of things, is it your application or the way the nails are lasting or something else?

IBD is a well known product, do you think it's a product issue or application issue?

You are using a reputable product which many other people also use so maybe you could consider some further training to iron out some of the problems you're having? I'm sure you could get on a progression or workshop day, even a one to one? xx

yeah i have rang up about one 2 one but no one still not got back to me.When i done the gel course it was only 2 days and now its 4 days i feel maybe i didnt have long enough to learn everything in them 2 days. I have problems with gel on natural nails it tends to shrink from the edges even though i have capped the free edge ect.but when i put a full set on my self with tips they are fine but if i do them on a friend they tend to always brake them cant understand why tho when mine have been fine gets a bit disappointing.

is there such thing as too much glue?
and when i put on the bonder it never looks dull and grainy no matter how less i put on
please help x

Did you do the gel course first as your foundation and then a conversion to acrylic (l/P)? 2 days isn't really enough for a foundation course IMO.

my gel course was for 2 days that was for begginers (but i already had a idea as i practiced from learning from the dvd no one told me all i needed to do was a conversion course so i paid the whole full price for a course that teach's you from scratch

So have you done the acrylic course too? Sorry for so many questions!

You say that you only have a problem with the gel....are you doing more acrylic (l/p) nails than gel? It could be a practice thing, the more you practice the better you get.

I don't have any IBD courses behind me so I can't provide any pointers in terms of product application but I'm sure some IBD geeks will come along to help you.....maybe try that course of action, rather than change product, just because. xxx

yeah i do more acrylic because they seem to last better but friends still tend to lose a few of them when they come back to me but thank you for your advice

I use IBD gel and love it! I was trainned with this product and have stuck with it ever since!

What saught of problems were you experiencing with the gel? Lifting, bubbles etc? If you can tell me what saught of problems you were having, then maybe I can help pin point a problem?

If your friend lost afew nails, it could be afew things....Gel wasn't cured long enough, Gel may have run into the cuticle or side walls and wasnt sealed off properly, Gel wasnt thick enough etc...

what it sounds like is that you're being a bit tight with your gel application. This same thing was happening to me as a newbie.

With the nno you don't want the gel to be running down onto the finger but you still need enough on the nail to be glossy all over.(can't think of another way to explain what i mean!) Cure and then do a second coat.

With your tips you need to reinforce the stress area - did they teach you the string method?? You do your first layer and cure, second layer but before you cure it you dip the brush straight into the product and pull it out and you get a string. You place the string of gel across the stress area from side wall to side wall and let it level out, i tend to do it a couple of times just to make sure. Check the surface for any dips and fill using the same method and then cure. Then finish as usual.

As for the bonder - wipe the brush a few of times and then do all 5 nails of one hand. Blot with a nail wipe and then cure.

But of course you got to practice - if you haven't got one get a nail trainer hand - they really are a good investment and can help you with your technique for everything!

I hope that goes some way to helping with the probs.
