Hi, I have been approached by a nail tech asking if she can set up in my salon on a Fri pm and saturday to offer biosculptre over lays and gel nail enhancements.I operate a beauty salon and i do acrylics/man/ped but i dont offer gel.
She wants to work on a percentage basis rather than an hourly rate. Firstly how popular is the service and what percentage is fair? I would be grateful for any advice. She is going to provide all materials but my salon is small so i would have to think about possibly losing some of my waiting area to house another nail station as i cant afford to ignore mans/peds that bring in revenue for me hence i would need 2 work areas.

hi i work on a percentage rate and have done in the past in some other salons, i find it works both for me and the owner, it doesnt suit everyone as alot of people prefer to pay a flat rent rate, but i prefer percentage i pay 20% off what i make and provide all my own equipment and products .
I think some people are choosing this way as you cant always predict what kind of week we are going to have and with the credit crunch at the moment i find the percentage suits me the best. :)
If you are having to provide the table for her then i would charge a little bit more on the percentage hun but thats just my opinion, i provided everything myself from table to towels and little things like handwash and magazines.
it could work for you as shes doing gel nails so that way your salon is offering another service and if those clients shes bringing in see you offer mani and pedis then it could work in your favour too and bring you more clinetel.
good luck let me no how you get on
Bianca x
