So what else apart from th ebelow would you like to cover on a course?

I think the cover up/foundation part is the most important, if you can get their skin looking fab anything on top is a plus, what about concealer/foundation application, and maybe custom mixing to get just the right shade for your client if you dont have one that matches properly?? hth x

im not a mua but i would love to know how to choose the right shade for foundation to match natural colouring.

you see so many people who look like their heads are a completely different colour from their bodies ! i play safe with a tinted moisturiser coz i dont know what i'm doing.

What about make-up for non-white skins? The make-up part of the course that I did only covered white skin, I wouldn't have had a clue how to deal with, for instance, black or asian make-up.

I was surprised that my make-up module didn't cover different skintones, and had deliberately lined up black and asian friends for my coursework practices so that I would have the ranges covered. But different ethnicities weren't in the ranges! I was told it was so that it assessment wouldn't seem discriminatory, but if that's true then it's stupid because as an mua you should be able to make everyone look great - not just caucasians! I was also told that the ranges referring to gender - eg male manicure and female manicure - were going to be changed so that there's no distinction. But again, I think it's important to be able to do both.

I agree with Ruthlm - achieving the perfect base is the holy grail. Also being able to make up older skin.
