:confused:Hi, I need some advice on choosing a gel system.:)
I am currently using Calgel but after my own experiences and after reading other Geek comments I'm realising that Calgel is best for overlays and maybe not right for use with extensions (tips).

Can someone suggest a buff off gel that does the job and hopefully is not going to cost me too much to set up as I have already spent a small fortune on setting myself up? Also something where I can use the same uv lamp so that I don't have to shell out for that as well>

Thanks guys x

Hi
You should not quibble over price of products when it comes to offering a premium service for your clients....
Nsi, EzFlow and Creative all have good quality buff off gels, the exception being that Creative's Brisa is hypo allergenic. These all have a reasonable cost.
You will also find that you WILL have to invest in a new gel lamp to cure a buff off gel. This is because the viscosity is thicker than your soak off gels and therefore needs to be cured differently ( I would assume ).
Invest in yourself, products and training and then your clients will invest in you....

Thanks for your help. I am not trying to give a second rate service by trying to use some of the equipment that I have purchased just a few months ago. I am tying to get a balance between getting the best possible product to do a good job for my clients and trying to utilise the nail lamp I already have, as there is nothing wrong with it - just good business sense I think!
I have just contacted NSI ref their Balance Gels and they have said I can use the same UV lamp and I have purchased a small tip and overlay kit from them. They were really helpful. I will give this a go, anymore suggestions are welcome.

I haven't tried these yet, but a lot of Geeks on here love the Creative Performance tips because they are already shineless and require almost no blending. This helps with gels because gel needs a non-shiney suface to stick properly.

My next suggestion is trying Young Nails prep products. Their protein bond and swipe dehydrator can be used on tips and allow for maximum adhesion. And these an be used with any product. (at least this is my understanding. correct me if I'm wrong)

Good luck!

Most of gels will be suitable to be used with gels, unless it says for use with natural nails only(very rarely).

I have used NSI, EzFlow, Ibd, LCN - i have tried it all all over the shop, lol.

BRISA rocks for me and my clients.:wink2:

Nsi says you can use balance gels over white tip, but i always had lifting at the free edge, no matter how hard i tried to buff the tip - UV is not capable to adhere the gel to the white tip. I dont do white tips with gels anymore, i sculpt or use clear tips and paint the french on with Brisa paint.

Perfomance tips are great, clear and natural are best for gels, although they still have to be buffed on top before the application of gels.

You need to have a go at a variety of products to find the best one for you)

Have a good look there are loads of threads here on gels, soak off and buff off gels)

good luck in your search for the perfect product for YOU:hug: x

I've sometimes use Calgel with tips. It's fine as long as you're not trying to do very long nails.

My preference though, is to sculpt when using it.

The biggest differences with soak-offs is the flexibility and that they are porous. The flexibility can be a problem with long tips, because the tips and adhesive don't flex as much as the gel.

What problems are you having with the Calgel extensions?
I use Calgel and havent had any 'major' issues. I am very recently qualified in CND Brisa gel (done no sets since training) and I like that. That is a buff off gel - well known, well respected etc... You do need the lamp with it though.

Hiyah
Lechat Nobility is good to use with tips, again tips need to be shortish, this is a soak off gel,

Also Entity One gel is great with tips, this gel is a buff off gel
