Hi I think you would benifit from getting a few diffrent trial kits and seeing which you prefer, thats the best way to find out what acrylic would suit you.

What do you mean ? .. everyone needs to learn to work with the system not the other way around which is why it is important to do training in individual systems. What on earth good does it do to buy several kits and not have the specific training that goes along with using the system correctly? Ridiculous.

I am sorry but I really disagree with this. Buying different trial kits to decide with which company to get training? that's ridiculous! As if a trial kit will shout out " I am the best, choose me!" Seriously?!!

There are many companies out there offering training. The question is what kind of training they provide? What support do they offer you afterwards? 2 hrs crash course that promises you are going to be awesome in one day? That's simply impossible.

Buying lots of training kits is a waste of money and time.

Choosing the right school will determine what kind of tech you are going to be.

Invest in education - don't spend money on sample kits, especially if you don't use acrylics yet.

Use search facility on this site which will help you to choose the best school and product for you!

Hope this helps

How can anyone make an informed decision about a product if they have not been taught how to correctly use it?

Neither is it a proper test of a product unless you use it for weeks and really see how it lasts.

How is one going to know if something is lasting as it should if they haven not been taught how to use the product correctly in the first place?

It always comes back to education PLUS an excellent product.

If you want to know what is the best then look at the reputation of the product and the company behind it, and make an informed decision.

CND did not earn a reputation over 30 years in business for no reason. You cannot go wrong with a company that has led and continues to lead the nail industry with education and new innovation.

CND has the best and largest nail-only laboratory in the world and it's unique products reflect the quality of R&D they do. They listen the to nail techs .. you and me ... and they listen to consumers ... you and me ... they listen to what we want ... and then develop those things.

After I finish my 17 week college course (end of June) in Silk extensions, then I am going to look into doing an L&P Course. I really have no idea where to begin in terms of what companies provide this etc.

Hey Geeg, fancy a weeks holiday in rainy old Worcestershire, i'll feed you and provide you with lots of Sangria and i'll even buy a sun lamp so it won't feel so far away from home for you, lol and in return I get to pick your brains for a week, lol.

I am not here to argue. I am here to learn. I think Gigi made it clear already.

I am a nail tech and the facts re CND speak for themselves.

A question was asked in this thread and I and many others have answered. I didn't start this thread and you are wrong about this site. I teach to everyone no matter what they use, but if a question is asked I am as entitled as anyone to MY opinion and the reasons why I have the opinions I have.

You seem to see anyone as aggressive if they do not agree with you. I see no aggression towards you at all ... just a difference of opinion.

You may preach what you were taught ... has your learning ended then? You are not willing to learn anything new or anything that is different to what you were taught? Did you read Doug Schoon's article regarding UV Lamps that I posted so you could learn from it? I hope so. It would give you much more credibility as a distributor of gels if you understood the facts behind using the right lamp for the system. You're gels may work with any lamp ... but others are specific and do not.

Maybe anyone CAN pick up the L&P you distribute and get OK results with it ... other L&P's are more technologically advanced and require specific techniques to use them and get the best results.

Typewriters used to be simple technology ... people had to retrain to use word processors ... technology advanced ... so it has with nail products as well. We never stop learning (not if we're smart anyway) ... you know what they say ... "If you don't make dust ... you EAT dust!"

Trial kits or cross over education? I think it depends on the competence and experience of the nail tech.

Bear in mind that there are many tech's out there that can't make top quality nails even though they've had training. Also many newer techs have problems with lifting because they don't have a good application technique. These people should definitely make a decision about which manufacturer offers both products and education they want, then take cross over training and stick with that product until they understand it completely and can make good reliable nails.

On the other hand there are experienced techs out there who are used to using a variety of manufacturers products, can buy a trial kit and pretty much figure out how to use it - if that's a good use of their time is open to debate. (Some manufacturers hire nail tech consultants to do this with new products straight from the lab).

As for which are the best products - that obviously depends who you ask. Most people, IMHO, are not qualified to judge what is a best product. How can you know this unless you critically test all manufacturers products over a period of say 6 months? So it's a daft question.

Better to ask, which are the products or manufacturers with a good reputation in the market? Then use this as a shortlist to do your own research based on what you want from a manufacturer and it's suppliers - education, service, if they are local, etc.

Frankly, too many manufacturers say their product is best because they have little else to say. They have marginal education, and what education they offer has little depth.

So better to start by finding out what education is offered and the quality of the educators. The "best" product in the world (if it ever existed) is useless in the hands of someone who got poor education!

If more nail techs considered education first and products second, then not only would this industry be more professional but everyone would earn more money and the low quality schools would be out of business or have to raise their standard and the duration of their courses.

I don't think people type their replies with any intention of being "Aggressive". I think what we have to consider is with typing replies, we cannot hear the tone of the voice and sometimes things come across as a bit "abrupt".

I know in the past I have sent text messages and emails to friends and they have been misinterpreted.

For me, personally, I like straight talkers. You always know where you stand with them and sometimes we might hear things we don't really want to, but i'd rather have that than have 20 knives in my back (ouch, they really do hurt, lol) from a sickly sweet smiling "friend" stood in front of you, lol.

I think the world of my college tutor because she says it exactly as it is and I get on extremely well with her. I know that she says things the way she does because she is so passionate about Nail Tech and I think the passion come through in how she communicates this.

I hope I have not typed anything on here which has been interpreted in an aggressive manner because that certainly is not my intention!
