Which NVQ Level??

Hi Geeks, just thought i'd ask your opinion on the advice my college has given me. I have enrolled to start my NVQ at college and was hoping to go straight to L2. I already do nails, and run a home business doing this. But my college have told me that as I have no salon experience they would only be able to start me on L1. I kinda thought this was really the basic stuff and i'm a bit disappointed that its going to take an extra year to do this then onto L2.

Any ideas anyone??? The college have a bit of a reputation for messing ppl around. Just wanted to know if this is across the board, to have to start at l1.

I think colleges have changed , as I have heard this a lot this year in hairdressing as well. sorry I can't help but just to let you know, your not on your own. :hug:

It must differ at different areas, ours is if you have GCSE's in english at c or above you qualify to go straight to level 2.

I do nails and spray tanning and I have just started Level 2 at my local college, some people on my course have not done anything with regards to beauty, so it maybe differs from college to college

I would ask to speak to the tutor before you sign up for anything and explain your concern at doing Level 1, Good Luck

I think if you have no GCSE's then you can't go straight to Level 2, but with education I'm sure you can. That's what I did anyway. Level 1 is only "salon services" and a waste of time in my opinion x

Ah thanks everyone, yeah you've confirmed what I thought already. I'll see if I can flutter my eyelashes at them! If not crack on, guess its best to learn right from the bottom rather than miss anything out - as they said!
