Sorry if this is a really silly and basic question that maybe I should know but why can you see the lunula on some and not on others? Is it simply the anatomy and physiology make up of some people and not others?

Because it is hidden under the eponychium. Usually the nailplates are quite small as well.

The larger and wider the lunula the larger the nail plate and the more visible it is.

Thank you.

Ive also been told that its hereditary too,Is this true???

Yes. The shape of your nails is directly inherited form your parents, like the colour of your eyes.

That is why different ethnic groups have different nail shapes.

European women for instance in general have lovely shaped nails with a beautiful c curve.

Eastern European women have long elegant nailbeds and a pronounced c curve and strong nails.

Some races have much more flat nails etc.

I must be a total mongrel then cos some of mine are flat and some have a C curve..........but then you know that:lol:
