Hi

I am a nail tech and not a beauty therapist, but my gym has a beauty room and they are always busy, so just depends on what rent they want and whether you think you will be able to cover this. Sorry I cant help anymore but thought that I would just mention that. Personally I think its a good idea if you can do more hours and as long as the room is set out nice then I cant see why you wont make any money. Abi

I rented a room in a small ladies gym and that was £55 per week, but the clientelle in that particular gym just wasnt there! the majority were elderly ladies and apparently the room had been rented by lots of beauty therapists in the previous few years they were not willing to try anyone new out!!! it was hard work and I did stick there just over a year but it did not work out for me, but it all depends on the locatopn you are in and how busy is the gym.

Good luck in what you decide to do :D

Hiya, I work in a gym at the moment but am leaving next month so that I concentrate on my mobile business. To be honest with you, the business has never really taken off and after 2.5 years I'm admitting defeat!!!

After being here all this time, there are still lots of members that don't even know I'm there:grr: I've advertised extensively, done special offers, tanoy announcements etc but still business is slow. I think the biggest downside for me of being based in a gym is that you don't really get any passing trade like you would on a high street,so it's that much harder to get clients in. I think it also depends on where the treatment room is situated, mine is literally off the main gym so can be very noisy during busy times which isn't ideal when trying to do massages, facials etc.

Having said all of this, at the gym I used to go to they had a beauty salon and it seemed to be fairly busy, so I guess it really does depend!! Hope I've been of some help (probably not!!!) xx

I think it depends on the type if gym.

Of 3 of the gyms I've been a member of 2 of the salons were very busy but these were very big gyms. Always busy or full to the brim. Even during the day they were busy.

The third gym was a smaller ladies only gym. At peak times it was no where near as busy as the big gyms. The salon really wasn't busy at all.

I'm renting a room in a small personal training studio. They are always busy for personal training. They have pilates, yoga and legs bums tums too. I've only just started but got a lot of interest for lashes already.

I had a Salon in a Gym for 15 years-it was a good business for me,altho I had lots of outside clients.
The hours were terrible as the gym was open nearly ALL the time- but there was plenty of passing trade -from the members.
If you are busy now why do you you want to up scale to a larger venue?
