Hi guys Im wondering what your views are with a guy waxing the below areas.. Im a hairdresser but also do waxing and other beauty treatments. At the moment i don't offer the below waxing. May consider bikini area. How would you feel with a male therapist doing this treatment on you?

Welcome to HCulture
Hi Craig,

I dont provide waxing for women, but I have had discussions with male clients who have wives or partners who have intimate waxing treatments, and have had similar discussions with female friends, and most of these women may be happy to have maybe a guy they are comfortable with do a leg wax with bikini line wax, but not any of the intimate waxing treatments ( Brazilians/Hollywoods).

Hi craig this wouldbe a fantastic poll, personally it's a no from me, I'm not confident with my body at all, maybe if I was a size 6 and looked fab maybe it wouldnt bother me. Also I'd never let my hubby see me if I wasn't 'perfect' down there so would be ultra embarrased if another man saw me 'in need of grooming'. It is a shame that some women feel this way as it shouldn't really matter who's providing the treatment as long as they are good at their job. Look toward to seeing other responses! X

I would be happy for a male to do any treatments on me, except intimate waxing, I don't really know why, guess thats just to private an area.

I guess there is no harm in offering it, you have nothing to lose, and as long as you state its a male waxer then its up to the cleints to decide.

Good luck

I agree!! xxx

I think Fozzyo asked this question and got different answers to you, but you'd have to check his thread to be sure.

For me, I wouldn't mind, but I'd probably want to see the therapist for other treatments first so that I was sure about him. For brazilian waxing, all I care about is that the therapist uses hot wax and will get every hair.

I'm afraid it's a no from me.

I wouldn't mind any other treatments from a male but definitely not intimate waxing.

If I were you I would offer it, along with leg waxing etc. Let the client get to know you first and once they were happy and feeling secure with you doing a full leg wax etc they will probably not mind you doing bikini.

Personally I would have to feel happy with and feel confident and secure with the therapist before letting them loose on my nether regions :green: - but that goes for any therapist - male or female.

But you never know if you dont offer. Even if you only get a couple of regular clients that would be better than none at all, and word would soon get round, good luck x

Interesting! Being a gay i don't think hubbys would be to bothered lol

I don't think i would feel comfortable waxing them areas. But with the other areas leg arm etc Im fine and clients are.

I thought it would be interesting to hear some views!

I think as long as your great at what you do, it doesnt matter what gender you are!

Quite a few of my clients are gay and im quite confident that they're girlfriend/boyfriend doesnt mind, if the therapist is the same sex....at least you get a conversation starter!

Dont give up if this is what you want to do, then offer it, forget about the what ifs and become confident in your ability. Ive hired what i like to refer to as laserboi, he deals with the intimate ipl for guys, for those very shy guys.....but hes a natural with the ladies, and they dont seem to mind. Good luck! xoxo

Hiya

I think if i had got to know you and come to you for other treatments it wouldn't really bother me. Xxx

no from me. I just don't like the idea of it. But any other treatment - yes. Don't mind if it's a male or a female.

i wouldent mind but after few treatment in other areas first would u be ok with a female doing your intamate area tho

Hi
No problem for me! If you were good at what you do then that's fine by me.:)

Yes, totally fine.

I had a new lady today and she brought her B/F in. They both had intimate waxing. She'd never experienced hot wax - nor a close wax of her anus. It was fine for us all!

Then her B/F had a scrotum and shaft wax. Time will tell if he's converted to smooth or not (skin that is - not the Smooth here!!)

My point being it all depends on the customer and the attitude of the therapist. It's just skin and hair - yes? Remember it's not too much different to my Nan's top lip! :)

I think for some ladies or husbands/etc being a gay could help when working with ladies, but what's so different from being a gynaecologist?

Professional therapists are not working for their own cheap thrills and have no agenda except from delivering an excellent service at the right price for the customer.

Gender really has no issue. The only caveat I might add is that when waxing a fella - it's much easier actually 'knowing' where you can put pressure or not. Learning is more difficult.

I don't specialise in ladies (yet) - I expect some feedback!

it's a no from me. Which may seem strange considering i do male waxing down below. I never used to bother about these things till a male doctor made an inappropriate comment about me while i was having a coil fitted. Shouldn't tar all folk with the same brush, but wouldn't put myself in that position again

There will be people who are for it and people against it. It's the same with everything in life. Luckily there are enough clients to go round for everyone :)
I had a new client the other day who came for some waxing. He didn't have intimate waxing but he does have it done elsewhere by a male therapist and he mentioned about having his waxing done all in one place but said it would be strange to have a woman do his intimate waxing and he didn't know if he would like it-lol
On the other hand, I have had men come for intimate waxing who travel quite far. I've told some of them that have come to me before and told a few that have phoned, that i knew someone who would be nearer to them. As soon as i've mentioned it's a male therapist, a few have said 'Oh I couldn't have a man do it'.
So there are some that prefer a male therapist, some that prefer a female and some that don't mind either. That's life!

I think you should offer it, as many have said its down to the individual me personally would'nt bother a jot if the male therapist is gay but I think if straight I would, (for intimate only anything else no probs) but strangely enough would'nt bother if my female therapist was gay coz shes got the same bits as me lol but thats just my opnion :) xx

Hmm I see people saying no as they are insecure...
I am 100% happy with my body but still would never let a man wax me! (sorry!) but definitely not my cuppa tea!
