    High humidity and waxing

I've been reading about high humidity and eyelash extension retention and have wondered about air humidity and waxing. What I find is that on wet or foggy days the wax just seem to adhere to the little fine under hairs on intimate waxes well. Has anyone else found this or am I talking rubbish?

    Eyelashes 'kinking' on the ends

One of my semi permanent eyelash clients has a slight kink in the end of some of her lashes when she comes for an infill. She looks after them really carefully and they last well on her, just have this weird bend on the ends. Any suggestions please and has anyone else had this?

    Caron Wax

I have been using Caron wax for the last couple of years and love it, but I seem unable to get a response from the English distributers who sell it. I have telephoned, left messages and emailed but haven't heard back from them. Has anyone else had this problem? I do very little waxing and like...

    Tinting skin on eyebrows

I haven't been tinting for that long and have been asked by a new client whether I can tint her very sparse eyebrows so that it stains her skin too. She has resently been to another salon and they used a stencil to apply the tint so that the skin was stained and then waxed the few hairs that...

    Home salon sign

For those of you with a home salon have you got a small sign? Where have you placed it? What is it made from? The reason I ask is because the council have said its fine for me to work from home without a change of use (I only have 2 or 3 clients a day) but I don't want to push my luck with a...

Idea's and advice eye lashes extentions etc?

My business has eventually taken off and I now have a sports/remedial/hot stone massage client list that is building nicely. This has only happened since I started working from a complementary therapies clinic a month ago (I just couldn't seem to build a business from my home based treatment...

    Basic natural nail overal training?

Hello, I specialise in massage, but also do beauty therapies as well. I have a few clients who have manicures and pedicures and woud like to be able to offer gel, just as a natural nail overlay. Does anyone know of any good training in just this as I'm not interested in tiping nails etc, I just...

    Home based salon membership

I'm thinking of having a membership scheme to try and get my non-peak times (9-3) fuller. As this is when my kids are at school this is when I would like to work the most, but still have evening appointments for those that need them. Clients could have £25, £35 and £45 membership, which will...

    Google Adword

I received £30 to try Google adword yesterday, so I set it all up last night and I'm waiting to see what results I get from it. I've set it to target people in my local area and my key word is massage, so I'm really hopeful that I'll get well targeted hits. Just wondered if anyone else has...

    Pregnancy facials

I'm doing a pamper party for a heavily pregnant lady and she wants a facial. I'm just wondering what would be the best way to do this as she obviously can't lay flat on her back. My choices are: Do it sitting up (which is less relaxing may be) Use a big bean bag for her to lean back on (not...

    Swedish massage & manicure pricing

Hi, At the moment I charge £30 an hour for massage and £26 for an hour manicure, these are based on prices in my local area. What I don't understand is why manicures, pedicures and often facials are priced at less than massage. How I would work out my pricing is hourly rate, plus product and...

    Pigmentation

I'd like some advice from those level 3 skincare geeks please! My mum has patches of pigmentation on her skin and the ones on her face are really bothering her as they have started getting worse. In the past she has used various lightening creams etc which haven't been very effective and she...

    Sports massage insurance

I've just passed my ITEC level 3 in sports massage and was going to add it onto my Guild insurance. Unfortunately they can only cover a level 4, so although I renewed my insurance with them last month for everything else, I'm going to have to get out another insurance to cover sports massage...

    Product assessment records?

I've done all my risk assessments and need to get my COSHH sorted. I sent off for a pack from Ellisons and I've nearly lost the will to live trying to work out what I need to do. I've phoned Ellisons and Mundo and they are sending me the data sheets for various products, but do I need data...

    Phd waxing

I've had my Phd waxing unit for about 18 months and have been happy with it. i use honey or tea tree wax in it. The last lot I ordered states that the tea tree wax is water soluble, which previously it hasn't said even though the ingredients list remains the same. Well any how I used the new...

    SpaManicure products

At the moment I'm using CND Raw Earth and Creative Scentsations which people seem to really enjoy. I'm going to order SpaPedicure and SpaManicure, but I'm wondering what is used as a hand mask during the SpaManicure as unless I'm being daft there doesn't seem to be one?

    NHS Directory

Hello, I've just been looking on the NHS directory website and I was wondering if anyone else has registered with them. If you have do you get many recommendations through it? Does it cost anything? Has it been useful to you? I've often wondered how people get recommended and sometimes paid...

    Oil in Clothing

I have a real problem with getting oil out of my tunic top and couch sheets. Has anyone found a washing powder that actually gets it out. I'd like to have a different coloured outfit but everything just ends up spoiled, so I just end up with black. Any ideas?

    Best glass files

Hi, I've been thinking about getting some glass files to use on natural nails, but don't know which one to go for. As they are quite expensive (compared to normal files) I wondered if anyone can recommend a good one. Thanks.
