    Recommend a friend scheme

I finally have a bit more freedom from my boys and and really keen to increase my business on 2015. I've thought of a recommend a friend scheme for starters, but before I post on my facebook page and website - I'd be very grateful if anyone out there would have time to check it makes sense and...

    Shellac problem with new client

Thanks for your reply Felicity that has made me fell a bit more confident about not refunding. My prep is always done thoroughly - I use cuticle away , scrubfresh etc (I did the Shellac brings them back course last year). I give all my new clients a small bottle of Solar Oil so she had that -...

    Shellac problem with new client

I've been Shellac-ing for three years and I've just had my first lady saying they've chipped and lifted after 2 days and and that she's going to have to soak them off herself as she is away for the weekend. This is a first for me! I always make a point of checking my bulbs etc before each...

Any Home Salons in Street or Shepton Mallet, Somerset?

Are there any waxing geeks in either Street or Shepton Mallet, Somerset? I have a client moving and she' d like to find a home salon if possible. I'm seeing her tomorrow and I can pass on details if anyone is interested in a new regular client. She has brows and top lip every 3 weeks.

    I cannot believe this!

The poor OP came on here for some support and look what has happened! This is supposed to be a helpful place! Surely when you receive a gift voucher, you check the expiry date and use it within that time, weather it's three months or 3 years! I think most people don't expect to be able to...

    Wet or dry manicure?

Yes, that does constitute a dry manicure, you are not 'soaking' the nails, just washing away the cuticle away. I was taught on the CND 'Shellac Brings Them Back' course to use cuticle away before your Shellac treatment. Same for Brisa. Hope that helps! :)

    Wet or dry manicure?

I use cuticle away on both systems. So I file and shape the nail, apply cuticle away, remove any cuticle on the nail plate, remove residue with cotton pad then spray with water and dry nails to neautralise the cuticle away. Then I scrubfresh before applying base coat.

    I cannot believe this!

The thing is, if I get a gift voucher, I check how long it lasts and use it within that time frame. Different places and businesses have different policies. There's a salon up the road that does only 3 months on the vouchers and I've seen one of these and the expiry date is there, on the front...

Ways to set yourself apart from the rest!

Price wars are never a good thing - stick to your guns and realise your worth! Being professional and keeping up to date with all the latest products and education gives you confidence in what you are doing and allows your clients to trust you and feel safe. I always allow plenty of time...

Clients 'friend requesting' you on FB?

I quite agree - I have a business page for clients and a normal page for family only. I've had a few friend requests from clients but have ignored them I'm afraid. I think it makes sense to keep personal and business separate.

    Berins wax

I use Berins blue for facial, underarm and bikini waxing. Wouldn't use anything else now. I actually had a new client hug me the other day because her lip wax was so gentle compared to what she has been having elsewhere! Marvellous stuff in my opinion!

Christmas gift that is not money off, any ideas?

When I want to treat a client I upgrade their treatment and they love it! I quite often do this when they've recommended someone who has booked in - they feel they are getting a freebie but all it really is is a bit of extra product and an extra 15 minutes of your time. You could write them...

    Anyone know what ELT is?

Oh yes - maybe it is as I do offer those. But why abbreviate that? Thanks though! :)

    Anyone know what ELT is?

Just had an email from a new client asking to book in for a manicure, pedicure and an ELT treatment. She said she was given one of my business cards by another of my clients but I don't know what ELT is? Have I gone momentarily brain dead - should I know? All the treatments I offer are...

    Steamed towels without a steamer

I just have a kettle near me which is boiled just before the client arrives. I decant hot water into a bowl, soak my towel in it, wring out (make sure its not too hot) and then apply. When it cools I just pop it back in my bowl and add more hot water from the kettle if I need to.

    Organic facials

I use NYR Organic. I became a consultant and just use the products in my treatments and retail to clients if they want to buy - although you could take it a lot further and do parties etc for up your income. I mainly use the frankincense range for anti-aging which is fab but they have products...

Brisa Lite removable sculpting gels and Brisa gels

For geeks who already offer both Brisa Gel and Brisa lite removable sculpting gels - how do you decide which gel to use? Do you need both in your business? I realise Brisa is a buff off and Brisa Lite sculpting is a soak off - so do you ask the client which they would prefer or are there...
