NSS salons: are they affecting your business?

Let's say for example that some wonderful legislation and standards were established... what do you think would happen? Why wait for the government? You could start a local trade association. Then you can set your own standards, enforce your own membership requirements (reasonable dues, proof...

    Please help - Allergic reaction

They are all in the acrylate or methacrylate family, so the chances are good that if you have become sensitive to one, you'll be sensitive to them all. However there are exceptions. I recall at least one case where a person was allergic to one brand monomer liquid but was okay with another...

    Adhd

Please carefully re-read what I wrote. You apparently missed something. I personally was forced to take Ritalin for 10 years. My "excuses" are indeed "all about my experiences" - my experiences of being on the medication myself. We are making major financial and lifestyle sacrifices to do...

    Adhd

Unless that parent has been on the medication himself and has personally experienced the downside. The ADHD situation has been described as "hunters in a farmers' world syndrome. It may not be a disorder at all, it may be a natural variation of mankind. It does seem to respond to a more...

    Adhd

When I was a kid, it was simply called "Hyperactivity". They put me on Ritalin at age 5, I took myself off it without permission at age 15. All 3 of my sons show signs of it, the oldest most especially. (Not coincidentally, he's the most scientifically minded one.) We are homeschooling...

RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why do you want to put yourself in danger? Do you someday want to visit your boyfriend/husband/father of your children in jail? Is that your romantic dream? This guy clearly has no self control, if he doesn't hurt you, he'll hurt...

Mixing OPI axxium sculpture gel with axxium soak off gel lacquer..

It would be safer to cure one layer at a time. The colored layer will block some of the UV from the clear layer below it, resulting in potential undercure. Somewhat less, but still... anything that blocks light can reduce cure. Some glitters are more transparent than others to the naked eye...

Mixing OPI axxium sculpture gel with axxium soak off gel lacquer..

Don't do it. There is an inescapable tradeoff between making a gel layer thick (eg for sculpting), versus making it highly colored. You can't have both, because the more colorants are added, the more UV light is blocked. Intensely colored gels can ONLY be applied thin -- otherwise the UV...

    Pedicure without water?

Okay, looking closer I discover that SOME of her seminars charge a fee now. BUT she does also offer free classes. It is not my intention to pitch the paid ones (which I've never attended). The free waterless pedicure class is awesome enough, as I can personally attest. It's a whole new vision...

    Pedicure without water?

I'm afraid I can't help you directly... But I know someone who can. If you manage to get over to the shows in the USA, you've simply GOT to take Jaime Schrabeck's FREE waterless pedicure class. I've sat in on it, it is truly awesome. Here's a link for her show schedule: Precision Nails -...

Why are there so many 'messers' around?

Yes, we are aware of this. It's a losing battle, I'm afraid. They tried it and "got away with it" -- so far -- and so they assume it's okay. I suppose people think that OPI is “dissing” this technique to protect our sales of colored gels. However, the truth is, to the best of our knowledge...

Why are there so many 'messers' around?

When we tell people, "Don't mix systems!", I get the feeling that a lot of folks simply don't believe us. They think, "Oh, they just want us to buy all of **their** stuff, it doesn't really matter". However, allow me to offer three reasons not to: (1) Performance: This is a tough sell...

Daisyl, You ask valid questions, in this deceptive industry. Here are the answers: "...I do not think the 'report' gives enough information to make accurate comparisons. Can you link the full study info. Control groups, nos etc etc... I think what would be far more useful and helpful in...

Important message from Doug Schoon re UV lamps. Please read anyone who uses UV Lamps

Hi everyone..... The short version, the takeaway points, are: (1) Nail lamps are far, far less intense than Tanning Booths -- it is wrong to compare them, and (2) A client who gets UV gels done on the normal 2-week schedule, would get more UV from taking a 10-20 minute lunch outdoors in...

    Fact or fiction?

    Horse Care products causing lift?

I grew up around horses, so I'll take a shot at this one. First possibility....You mentioned she does massages for horses. Some massage oils do contain petrolatum or mineral oil. That could be the culprit. Ask her to bring the bottle in, and post the ingredients here, and we'll see what's up...

    Bikini Waxing

That is exactly what the research shows. When the Nail Manufacturers Council (NMC) studied this issue, we found that deliberate contamination of nail lacquer with microbes under lab conditions, resulted in a rapid kill. When we went to various salons and purchased back half-used lacquer bottles...
