    Illumina glossing

I love refreshing double process blondes with the illumina glossing treatment and have always used wella post service, but I am thinking about trying it with olaplex no. 2. Anyone else tried this?

    Going darker with Wella Illumina

I'd like to get feedback about the % or volume used when taking hair darker with illumina. What have your results been using 6% (as some of the technical materials for the product suggests)? Has anyone done this on previously lightened hair? What about pastel? Is this your go to developer...

    Nioxin System and 5% minoxidil

Does anyone know if these two treatments can be used together? Shampoo, conditoner, and scalp treatment along with 5% minoxidil, or are they essentially incompatible?

    Rant (sort of)

So I went for my regular hair cut with my regular barber. He runs a busy shop, the best in town, and I alway book in at the same time, same day every three weeks. I book my next appointment before I leave. As I walk in, I hear him say my name, I turn the corner and say yup, it's me. He has...

    Determining natural level?

This issue comes up a lot. I saw this video recently. It's a good demonstration of the bricklaying technique, but listen to what she says the natural level is? Can't be right, can it?

    /88 Wella Color Touch

How much /88 can I add to 7/1 w/ dropping a level? I've never used this mixtone, but heard that it is strong, or is that just KP?

I for one am just sick to death of granny gray

Cams said something in a post that really stuck in my mind. To paraphrase he said that one you achieve an even base ten, you can take it in any direction. While I think the gray is beautiful when done right, it just over saturated. I want to see something else. Maybe iradescent gold or amethyst.

    Crazy color home dye nightmare

I have a on and off again client the has been doing her own color for about a year now. She is a base 6. She has been using a red violet ion shade permanent color from sallys and topping it off with a hodge podge of direct dyes. Now she wants to go a level 7 turquoise/natural 6 ombre. I was...

    Redken Blonde Idol base breaker

Does anyone have any experience using this? I know they have clear and cool. I'm doing a young lady's hair, level 7 natural with a very few balyage pieces grown out. I was thinking if using the blonde idol to brighten her base, then balyage to add more dimension. I was thinking of using the...

    Product advice?

Good evening geeks! I have a client with medium textured hair in long layers down to the middle of her back. Her hair has a very slight natural wave. She sock buns it at night to enhance the curl. Comes out really lovely, but we are looking for a product that will help enhance the longevity...

    Wella pigment lock

I have a client: ombre, natural base 4, 1 " regrowth, mids 6/0 (illumina 7/81, 5/81, 2:1 with 9%.) Ends are 9/0. She's wanting a darker balyage driven ombre with lightness around the fringe, a few fine highlights through the crown, and ends. I'm weighing options for tinting the 9 back to...

    Level 12

This is what "level 12" looks like. Mind you, that's not true, the lightest part of that is a ten. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using SalonGeek mobile app

    Road trip Marfa, TX

So some friends and I are taking a road trip for the rest of the week to the quirky little West Texas town of Marfa. We will be staying at the hotel where Liz Taylor and James Dean staid while filming Giant. Hoping to get some energy flowing into those old creative batteries. Sent from my...

    Goldwell silk lift bath?

I know I've heard that you can use silk lift to remove tone similarly to blondor and pastel 1-4. Would anyone be willing to share the specifics, of I guess for lack of a better word, the silk lift bleach bath? Which powder to use, the blue or the red? Which developer? Do you include the...

    Goldwell silklift with Olaplex

Does anyone have any experience using these two products in combination? Mainly I'm concerned about using the intense conditioning serum and olaplex. I know I've sort of posed this question before, but it wasn't ever specificly addressed. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using SalonGeek...

    Wella geeks-toner formulas?

So browsing youtube I came across this from Sassoon. If you watch all the way through, the colorist says some really interesting things about using wella to tone. Really want to know what my fellow geeks think of the theory he advances! http://youtu.be/a9KdzjJw0Dc Sent from my S...

    Oscar's Hair

Anyone see all those wierd, messy, up do's, Blanchette, Arquete? They looked sloppy and made their hair look dull and dry . On postive note, there were some really nice sivery blondes. That was nice! :-) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using SalonGeek mobile app
