Last night while she was walking my dog, another dog came and attacked my dog. My mom tried to break up the fight and got bitten as well.

*pictures coming later*

So she had soak offs on, and it looks like the gel lifted on one of her fingers and now there's blood underneath it. She wants me to remove the gel because she's afraid that she might get a greeny from the blood trapped under the gel... but I don't think that's a good idea.

What should I do?

I don't know how I would remove the gels for her, because she also has some bite marks on her finger tips as well. The soak off solution would sting like crazy, and buffing would probably hurt just as bad from the pressure.

Also, would you geeks recommend solar oil, or should I wait for her wounds to close first?

Thanks in advance <3

Has she been to the doctors as she may need a tetanus injection asap x

Oh yeah she went to the emergency last night and got everything done already. She's also on antibiotics now.
Right now she's just waiting for animal control to check the other dog's records to make sure it got its rabies shot.

You can't leave a lifted overlay on. I think you need to find the least painful method of removal. Maybe the foil removal will help? If not then gentle buffing.

I presume the blood has seeped under from skin damage and not from the nail plate?

If you leave it bacteria will get under there and just add to her problems. If there is nail plate damage there will be all sorts of problems with infection.

Mum (Marian) is right - it has to come off.

I got bitten by a dog a few years ago (putting leaflets through doors... talk about pain in advertising!) One tooth went through the skin above the nail matrix, and another tooth shattered my acrylic nail like a rock through a window. It HURT.

But, it hurt a lot less after I got the enhancement off. I cleaned and wrapped the finger wound, and foil-soaked off the rest. Yes, it stung, but at least it was off and I could see what was happening underneath. The doctors dealt with it straight away but I'm glad I took it off myself rather than let them prise it off me!

I tell you, that enhancement saved my finger - the bite would have gone straight through my fingernail otherwise.

I hope your mum feels better soon!

Thanks ladies!
So my mom saw her doctor today, and he said not to touch it for atleast 3 days... so I guess I'll just keep and eye on that nail till then.

Hope your mum is ok, what a horrible experience. Hope she is ok, heres a couple of   Hope your dog is ok too!! Just for future reference never ever try to seperate dogs if you have a large coat on throw it over them, they wont fight if they are covered and cant see. Its hard though cos survival mode kicks in. Your mum was very brave! I've had to seperate dog fights and they are not pretty! It was a dog behaviourist that told me about covering them, a coats probably not big enough but worth a try I guess, its not like you are gonna be carrying a blanket is it!!!

Im a dog person as I think most people on here that know me know that already and it really annoys me that dog owners are not responsible. A dog like that should not ever be off its lead and if necessary muzzled. Its never the dogs fault in my opinion, its irresponsible dog owners that are at fault. it doesnt take a genious to know your dog and act accordingly, make it safer for all concerned people, kids and other animals!

Ugh I know! The owner was about a block away! And then as they waited for my dad to go pick my mom up, he told her that she's bleeding because she stuck her hand in his dog's mouth.

I'll save the details for my blog, but yah, THE NERVE!

One good thing is that I almost gave her a new set this weekend but I was busy so I decided to wait until Monday. At least she didn't get a brand new set ruined, she would have been twice as devastated!

Sounds like the owner is a moron, sorry but I have zero tolerance for that mentality. I had a very aggressive German Shepherd for 13 years, he was never allowed to hurt anyone or animal, I knew him and made allowances for his behaviour. If I can be resposible owner with a dangerous dog anyone can! I dread to think what would have happened cos he was that bad, but never with me or people or animals he knew, he was a gentle giant. But outside no one could control him but me and he was muzzled and on lead at all times.

I would leave it for a couple of days to let the healing process start and then soak off using the foil method as mentioned earlier. After a couple of days the wounds won't be open any more and it won't hurt as much. :)
