Hiya everyone

I havent been on here for a while but I have a problem with 2 of my clients that have said that they nails are drying out by the cuticles, they said the nails get all dry and then start to lift?? then eventually the nails fall off after a week to 10days??

I did prep very well as another lady whose nails I did on the same day still has her nails on after 2 half weeks now with no problems.

1 of the ladies is a hairdresser and constantly washing hands and wears no gloves could this be why they are drying out? and the other lady works in a nursing home but is using the alcohol hand wash, is there anyway this could be causing her nails to dry out?? I have given them cuticle oil but im not sure they use it often enough either.

Im getting really worried that im not good enough due to these clients but it seems to only be them that have the problems??

Any help would be appreciated, otherwise could it be the products im using? Im using the EN dream products which I dont like but cant do a conversion course to Creative until september?

You will get this problem with the nursing home lady due to the wash she is using, we have had this problem on here before. The hairdresser will be in contact with a lot of chemicals and they don't always wear gloves so this could be some of it but not normally falling off!!

Are you sure you are not touching the skin with the product? This will certainly encourage lifting and will be made worse by the occupations of these ladies.

What brand are you using? It is sometimes easier to comment if we know this as you will get people who are experts in that system able to help!

Sheila :) xx

if your other clients dont have problems then its unlikely to be the brand of product or the technique you are using.

i think they are not taking the extra care they need due to their work.

clients rarely tell the truth about their homecare routine. they come to us because they want beautiful nails without the hassle on their part.
some clients can get away with minimal aftercare and some cant.

these ladies either need to accept that they need to partner with you to ensure the success of their nails or accept that they will have some problems .

id say that the fact they are coming back to you shows that they have faith in your work. just try to emphasise the importance of the homecare.
but like the old saying goes, 'you can lead a horse to water but you cannot make it drink'

May I suggest you get those ladies some high quality cuticle oil? The oil should really help to prevent drying and brittleness around the eponychium area if applied twice a day.
